@Camp4 Ferrari has lost its magic touch. No doubt some people will buy this ugly creature. But even more people will not buy a Ferrari at all anymore.

Ferrari has just officially unveiled its first ever all-electric car, called the Ferrari Luce. • Starting price: $640,000 • Interior co-designed with Apple's former head of design, Jony Ive • Range: 280 miles (expected EPA) • Peak charging speed: 350kW • 122 kWh battery • 1,050 horsepower • 0-60mph: 2.4s • 800v • Four-door four-seater • Four electric motors • OLED screens • Weight: 4,982 lbs • Front motors spin to 30,000 rpm, rears hit 25,500 rpm • Car uses an accelerometer to capture real vibrations from the electric motors & rear chassis. An algorithm filters out unpleasant frequencies and amplifies only the more “musical” sounds. This can be heard inside and outside the car. • Paddle shifter on steering wheel changes how aggressively torque is delivered, with five different levels • The trunk has 21.1 cubic feet of space, the largest luggage capacity the company has ever offered • 197.6 inches long, about as long as a Tesla Model S U.S. deliveries start in Q2 2027. @MegEBrock It's cause he's supposed to be this Better Man and really a hangover lays him out for three days, which is incredibly funny. Also, it speaks to his privilege. The man can sit around, whining he can't do his podcast. Working class people pop some Tylenol and get moving

@OPaladins2 The last season of Andor is entirely about the transition from decentralized partisans and terrorists to an actual regular military

I just finished watching A New Hope.. if I am entirely honest that was the first time I watched it all the way through. I caught basically both halves before but never sat down to watch it all at once. A few notes. 1. Feels like nobody really treats the Rebels like they're treated here, like damn this was an actual army, uniformed soldiers with real ships and such. After years and years of Star Wars Rebels, Rogue One, Andor, etc. where it feels like they're all just partisans, it's odd. 2. This is a very funny movie, funnier than I remember it being. Han menacing Luke about Leia later in the film had me dying. 3. It can be very cheesy, but it was a fantastic film. Reaffirming my beliefs that people who say Star Wars was always slop or something of the sort are full of it.

@mightydudbolt They wanted naboo to sign onerous terms to become incorporated in their federation, and they were blockading the un-federated trade to the planet I understood this as a 9 year old. It's not complicated

Okay, here's where George Lucas went wrong: So first, he called the antagonist group the Trade Federation. The average viewer should immediately understand their function and role in the galaxy, right? This is what we call economical storytelling. They're the TRADE FEDERATION. Wrong. The average viewer is too stupid to understand this. And it gets worse from there. Because even if the average viewer WAS able to understand that the Trade Federation is, in fact, a powerful group controlling trade in the galaxy, they would then immediately become confused by the concept of the Trade Federation blocking the flow of trade to a planet. This is because the average person is too stupid to understand the concept of foregoing immediate gratification for the prospect of long-term gain. So the logical implications of what the Trade Federation is doing, which would be obvious to most of us intelligent viewers who understand bargaining leverage, would still be completely beyond the capacities of the average viewer. Basically, Lucas wildly overestimated the intelligence of the general audience, and left too many failure points where the average viewer would become completely lost. It's his own fault really. We cannot blame the stupid for their own incapacity. They can't help it.

it's been almost 30 years and i swear to god i could not tell you if the trade federation is pro- or anti-trade

I genuinely don't understand people like Bezos and Musk. If I had billions of dollars, I would just start fixing everything. Homeless veterans sleeping on the streets? Not on my watch. Hungry children going to bed with empty stomachs? Hell no. They could be making life better but instead choose to build spaceships and data centers to pump stocks and destroy the planet

Y'all—this optimization stuff can make you fragile. If you are in recovery then yes, of course, a few glasses of wine will mess up your week (or worse). If you get drunk then yes, I could see it messing up a day or two. But if going out to dinner and having a few glasses of wine throws you for this much of a loop then perhaps you've actually just become fragile? I mean how would Steven manage having a newborn, or really any age kid? Or just the general uncertainty and messiness of life? In my new book I tell the story of golfer JJ Spaun, who was up all night with his vomiting toddler. His Whoop sleep score would have been zero. The next morning, he went out and won the U.S. Open. Actual excellence (not the elaborate, performative internet variety) demands resilience. It controls the controllables, no doubt. But it also ensures you don't optimize yourself into fragility, which is an increasingly common trap and performance killer. bit.ly/4uCzeQ7

Steven Bartlett says a few glasses of wine ruined the next 3 days of his life “It's one of those areas where you don't understand the hidden cost until you really give it up for a while. I stopped drinking at 30 years old. I'm now 33. When I was 31, I thought, I'll have a drink again because now I could really A/B test it. I had a year of not drinking, decided to have a drink again” “It ruined three days of my life. I had a couple of glasses of wine, didn't get drunk. It ruined three days of my life because of the domino effect it caused” “I got worse sleep that night, and then because I got worse sleep that night, I ate more poorly the next day because my dopamine system or whatever, the cortisol system was all messed up. I podcasted worse. I didn't go to the gym that day or the day after because I felt really bad. I then slept worse, and I could track all of this on my Whoop”
