@cjtudor @TonyKent_Writes The words “far right” appear to have no meaning at all any more. What a ridiculous comment.
English

@TonyKent_Writes Massive concerns or endless propaganda from a far right media? The sad thing is, Labour aren't even doing *that* bad a job, and Starmer certainly isn't the worst PM we've had. What a shitshow. 🙄
English

@David90shaw Jeremy Corbyn was never toxic to the people. He was immensely popular and his policies were loved.
THAT's why the Establishment destroyed him.
English

@MsDayglo @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy You don’t accept some people will be ruined, loads of young people will be out of work, prices will rise etc etc.
English

@MsDayglo @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy It doesn’t save that much anymore. And you’re ignoring the many that don’t do that and would be wiped out with a big increase in minimum wage. But I guess you prefer to focus on those who fit your narrative. Classic left wing take.
English

@BossineyPlace @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy I see a lot of employers paying themselves dividends etc. to avoid tax and paying staff as little as they can get away with.
English

@MsDayglo @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy Do you not think some employers are paying as much as they can based on what their customers are willing to pay? This “if you can’t pay people more your business is crap” thing is often coming from the same people crying about how expensive things are.
English

@BossineyPlace @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy Not being rude, but why do you think I need instruction in how a business runs?
Yes, there are running costs. Why should an employee subsidise the employer by absorbing the costs?
English

@MsDayglo @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy Is that because your clients pay you enough to pay them that amount? Applied to a lot of retail etc that just means inflation, which eats the pay.
Employing people occasionally still not really the same as running a business with fixed costs, premises, business rates etc is it?
English

@MsDayglo @iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy Self employed is not the same as running a business and employing people
English

@iWalkOutdoors @SellikBhoy Are you obliged to run a business?
I say that as someone who's been self-employed from time to time.
If you can't pay people decently to do what's needed, then maybe you need to work harder yourself.
English

@PlaidLles @NSlugs @ZackPolanski You don’t think experienced people might be more productive? Doing the same job but more effectively? Helping the younger, less experienced?
English

@NSlugs @ZackPolanski It depend if their on an apprentice scheme. If not there is no sensible reason why a young worker shouldn't be paid the same as an older worker.

@smoggy1536445 I remember it well “don’t come to Glasgow and try that, we’ll set aboot ye”. Legend
English

Anyone remember the Glasgow airport terror event, and how we celebrated the heroic Stephen Clarkson who started kicking fuck out of the terrorist?
Remember that?
Or the fucking legend that screamed "im Millwall" before proceeding to attack a terrorist in London and getting stabbed repeatedly?
Come to the UK and commit a terrorist attack, and you will be beaten the fuck out of.
And I will celebrate every single brave individual that does this. Whether your a Bobby or not.
English

@SocialistHB @owenjonesjourno @gpz01 I’m glad that you’ve never had to deal with extremely violent people, but that’s why you cannot understand why kicking someone in the head may be necessary. Trying to remove the knife from his hand using their own hands while he is flailing around would have been very dangerous.
English

@owenjonesjourno @gpz01 I cannot understand any situation where you’d need to kick someone in the head as part of physical intervention.

The Metropolitan Police denouncing a party leader a week before elections - over a retweet.
This is outrageous.
Forget what you think about the retweet.
If you accept this sort of police interference in our democracy, you legitimise a deeply disturbing precedent.

“Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world.” Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley writes to Zack Polanski.
English

@TordoffNigel @Steven_Swinford Was he still holding a knife or not?
English

BREAKING
Sir Mark Rowley, the head of the Met police, has criticised Zack Polanski after he appeared to condemn police officers for allegedly “repeatedly and violently’” kicking a man suspected of stabbing two Jewish men while they attempted to detain him
He has accused him of fuelling tensions and undermining confidence in the police
‘I am disappointed because it is this kind of inaccurate and misinformed commentary - with its associated casual disregard for the incredibly challenging and dangerous work police officers do for the public - that is contributing to the rising tensions we are seeing in society and undermines officer confidence to act’
He says the officers ‘are nothing short of extraordinary’ and that without their intervention lives would have been lost. He says the man ‘continued to pose a clear threat’ and they feared that he was ‘concealing an explosive device’
‘Apprehending violent and dangerous criminals is a full contact and messy task which may appear shocking to observers with little experience of policing in the real world’

@BossineyPlace @IGN Yeah people hate whites for no reason. Whites don’t say: nigger, brown clown, goat fuckers, camel jockeys and only post exclusively non whites doing bad stuff on their timeline.

@DAaronovitch @TheScholar44 Hi David, do you support the policy? Or can you not answer without my full name?
English

@TheScholar44 I'm sorry, but who are you? I can't really think of a reason why you would need to have this discussion from a position of anonymity.

Your reminder that in 2023 85 private schools closed
Victoria@vickygrayson_
“[Phillipson’s] policy of imposing VAT on private schools to pay for state teachers is having devastating results: Labour said 3k children would leave private school as a result; by last autumn 25k had & more will follow. Almost 120 schools are closing.” thetimes.com/comment/column…
