You're actually bolstering the argument I already made. We seem to be in agreement that, once saved, believers are called to pursue holiness as modeled by Christ, and called (individually, not corporately or mandated by government) to serve others, thereby reflecting God's love into the world. These are EXPRESSIONS of faith, not faith itself. Faith is the act of BELIEVING. Salvation cannot be achieved through being a good person -- it's not about what we're capable of doing in our own power, it's about what Jesus already DID. The Bible is so clear that the only path to salvation is accepting that Jesus is the Son of God and trusting in His death and resurrection for the forgiveness of sins, genuinely turning away from a life of sin, and turning toward God. What are you actually disagreeing with? Help me understand, because the passage you've posted doesn't contradict anything I've said.

Um... I disagree with it because the Bible explicitly says that is faulty doctrine. Salvation can only be achieved by God's grace and our faith -- believing in God's redemption plan for people via the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, repenting your sin, accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and submitting to His Lordship. You cannot be saved by performing good deeds. I know plenty of athiests who are "good people," and volunteer in nonprofits and treat people kindly - that doesn't mean they belong to God's kingdom and will spend eternity in heaven. That's the problem with Talarico and his offensive heresy -- he twists scripture to conform it to his evil agenda, rather than presenting God and Jesus accurately as revealed in the Bible. And he says just enough fluffy, positive-sounding bullcrap that people JUST LIKE YOU are deceived into thinking he's some sort of saint. When in reality, the screenshot you provided is a perfect illustration of the lies of a false prophet. He's actively leading people AWAY from God by misrepresenting how a human being achieves salvation. The Bible gives each believer an individual mandate to serve others in the ways listed here, as an expression of God's love on the earth. We represent the father when we help those who need help, by being His hands and feet. But serving in a soup kitchen doesn't get you to heaven. Faith in Christ alone does. So, yeah, I take offense to someone pretending to be holy and then misrepresenting Christ to the world. The Bible is the source of inerrant truth to a Christian... and Talarico doesn't believe what it says. Therefore he isn't actually a Christian, but a heretic.
