@SchelterGroup @andrei_yudin Would be happy to talk more! Are you thinking about proton, electron, or heavy atom tunneling? Regardless, I think Hammes-Schiffer discusses it really well.

@SchelterGroup @andrei_yudin We think about this too! If you have a truly symmetrical reaction surface (e.g. formic acid dimer), then tunneling does reverse rapidly. Otherwise it's all about the reorganization energy you'd need to get back to the tunneling geometry.

Wonder if anyone ever commented on a microscopic reverse of a reaction that exhibits tunnelling. Would be keen to consider the arguments.

Since only trace quantities of Pd are needed for catalysis, and road dirt has trace Pd, we think it's possible. Happy to talk more about what's known and what we're doing!

@billthechemist @ndchiappini @KUhokie42 @g_laudadio Yes! It's true, our group has indeed been adding scoops of road dirt as a Pd source for coupling reactions. Turns out it's not quite that easy but we are working on it! We also admire @AnanikovLab's work in this realm.
