I have mixed feelings towards Josephus.
On the one hand, he surrendered to the Romans. A cowardly act especially of a leader.
On the other, he preserved the history of his people, gave us invaluable insights into Jews of that time, and never stopped fighting for his people in Rome.

I don't think the evidence in favor if this pronunciation is very compelling. Judging by theophoric names, it was probably Yahuh (the 2nd H is silent) "His Yah" "Yah" coming imho from "Hayah" "was" in the sense of "antiquity, always existing without beginning"

@Boxy_FT Yeah, OP got it exactly right. Globalization and the internet have flattened cultural differences between places and made it harder to romanticize far away places. Japan is basically the only place left that's safe, and that's mostly because they're insular and very wealthy.
