🚨PSNI All-Ireland video: "If this was anyone else, they'd be getting three points on their licence."
🗣@uuponline Leader @BeattieDoug says his issue is not with the police "joining in on the celebrations" but the "manner" that they did."
📻He told Chief Reporter @jamesgould23 that he does not want to see anyone lose their job over this.
🤝He has spoken to Chief Constable Jon Boutcher and says he has full confidence in the PSNI.
Today many who enjoy & value GAA had fun & celebrated their political sport. They have every right to do so.
But many went on the rampage with thuggish behaviour, desecrating War Memorials, launching fireworks at bars in unionist areas, chanting pro IRA slogans & in some cases engaging in vicious thuggery.
Alongside this we had the appalling behaviour of a number of PSNI officers who were joyriding & openly endorsing the GAA which is an extremely divisive political organisation, with deep ties to IRA terrorism both in recent decades & historically.
Unionists are lambasted, demonised and subject to intense criticism constantly. The same persons behind that- the nationalist elite & many in the media- are silent tonight, or in some cases are actively endorsing or at least justifying the worst of today.
Extraordinary- BBC NI reporters appearing with their faces painted team colours of the politically controversial and divisive GAA.
Would BBC NI have had their reporters painting their faces red, white and blue for the 12th July?
If not, why not?
This returns to the issue of how unionist culture & tradition is demonised, whilst nationalist culture & tradition is forced upon us as the new orthodox & status quo.
Good luck to the good people of Galway this weekend. Looking forward to a great day. Hoping our boys can do better than we did against your great 1998 and 2001 teams. Doire abú
