“Sinn Féin will not tolerate the continuing scornful attitude displayed by an increasingly rogue, intransigent DUP hellbent on trying to turn back the clock to the days of unionist misrule. There will be no going back.” @GildernewColm sinnfein.ie/news/sinn-fein…

Can the DUP not remember the anger & the fall out from language Líofa bursary scheme in 2017? Unionism should have realised by now that Gov at Stormont is in their interests. Sinn Fein cannot remain in Stormont for much longer given the DUP’s constant attacks on anything Irish!

At best, DFC totally failed to protect a long-standing project that is providing unique language services to our councils. At worst, this is the DUP taking aim at the engine-room powering dual street signs. 🐊This could well be another #Líofa moment for another DUP Minister 🐊

The Liofa scandal for 2026. Sinn Fein can not let this pass without consequences.

This policy is genius. Everyone can get what they vote for - what's not to like?!

Sinn Féin has said the statue of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands is “going nowhere”, as it was erected “by the people and for the people of this community”. belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-… belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-…

I welcome the commitment from @gordonlyons1 to review the current standards process for councillors, following my request and intervention on this issue. This is an important and necessary step. I’ve been raising concerns for some time about whether the current system is always being applied proportionately — particularly when it comes to political speech. Through my own experience, I’ve faced multiple complaints over comments where I was ultimately cleared after lengthy investigations. People are entitled to disagree with views I express — that’s democracy. But political disagreement alone should not automatically become a formal standards issue. I fully support standards and accountability in public life. But the system must also be fair, proportionate, and must not discourage elected representatives from speaking openly on important and often difficult issues. This goes beyond any one individual. It’s about ensuring elected representatives can continue to speak up on behalf of the people they represent without fear of disproportionate or vexatious complaints. I welcome that this review is now being taken forward.
