Week after week, the conservative majority on the U.S. Supreme Court continues to dismantle civil rights, equal representation, and hard fought voting rights that have been around for decades. And now they are meddling in elections AFTER votes have been cast. It’s simple: MAGA is silencing millions of people — it needs to be called out. It’s time we have a serious discussion in this country about court reform — from new ethics guidelines to term limits and more.

AOC: All those maps were passed by the state legislatures. Virginia was an election of three million Americans. This court did not overturn a map, it overturned an election. It’s one thing for a court to check a legislature or an executive but the end-all and be-all of power in America should be the people.

In 2018, North Carolina held an election using congressional maps that had already been ruled unconstitutional. The winners were seated anyway. In 2022, Ohio did the same thing. Georgia and Alabama moved forward with racist maps in 2022 that violated the Voting Rights Act. The winners of those elections were seated anyway. When it’s Republicans disenfranchising Black voters and Democrats, illegal maps are suddenly good enough to keep in place during the election. None of those states even put their maps up for approval by the public like Virginia did. Virginia should proceed with their election under the map their voters just enacted. Anything less would establish an unfair precedent.
