@AcademicChatter I often see students who have a perception they are lagging behind but when I checked their ability they were exactly where they should be! You shouldn’t know it all yet (and never will) and others often seem more capable than they really are. Keep learning and improving!

Anonymous Question "1st year PhD student in social sci. I struggle with statistics and feel I'm lagging behind with these skills. Others (mostly) seem a lot more skilled, which doesn't help! Advice?"

@LTM_ISCHE I think public health agencies should be encouraging everyone to stop microwaving food in plastic containers and get plastic free water bottles 😊 two easy steps to limit exposure

Human animals have the ability to imagine alternative possible worlds. Is this a human-specific capacity or do chimpanzees also think about what could be? Across two preregistered studies, out today in @CurrentBiology, we find evidence that they do! Thread authors.elsevier.com/a/1dzYA3QW8Rwp…

@BoardroomBoy And this is in mice given a dose of "30 μg mRNA/dose (>300 times the human dose on a mg/kg basis)" Nice try at misinformation.

@BoardroomBoy It’s not misinformation. I am literally looking at the study right now. Do you disagree that the vaccines prevent hospital admissions and deaths in all age groups?

@BoardroomBoy The mouse trials used doses 300 times that used in humans. There has clearly, demonstrably been no effect on fertility in people.

@BoardroomBoy We have well over a years worth of data. That is considered long term. We know the risks of Covid-19 short term and way way more than side effects from the vaccine. And Covid-19 is much more likely than the vaccine to have long term effects. We already know it does. It’s balance

(1) A worrying trend in the UK shows vaccine uptake at an almost standstill for >18s. There are still over 5 million adults in the UK completely unvaccinated and this trend suggests they intend to stay that way.🧵on why you should get vaccinated! #Covid_19 #COVID19 #CovidVaccine

@jeremy_hume That’s a completely different argument. My argument is, get vaccinated to protect yourself and those around you. Simple. Irrelevant how incompetent those members of government are. I’m more concerned for the safety of people taken in by the anti-vaccine movement.
