In 1940s Calcutta (now Kolkata), as Japanese air raids rattled the city, a group of musicians travelled by horse carriage to a recording studio, dodging sirens.

On 30th April 1908, revolutionaries Khudiram Bose and Prafulla Chaki set Muzaffarpur alight by hurling a bomb to kill Magistrate Douglas Kingsford. The plot failed, and it led to the suicide of Prafulla Chaki and arrest of Khudiram. Bal Gangadhar Tilak voiced his support for the plot and was also arrested on 3rd July 1908. This added force to an already surging #FreedomMovement in #Calcutta. On 26th July, Bipin Chandra Pal addressed a large gathering at College Square protesting against the Tilak's imprisonment.
That day, there was a #football match at the #Dalhosusie Football Club ground, where Dalhousie played against #MohunBagan. The Muzaffarpur incident, Tilak's arrest and Pal's fiery speech earlier that day at College Square reflected in the football ground, where a match between an #English team and a #Indian team was seen as a proxy theatre for the #FreedomMovement. Here's a report of what happened that day at the football match.

This photograph is of the restored early 18th-century Imambara from Rajnagar in #Birbhum.
#Rajnagar today is a small, unassuming village in western Birbhum, close to the #Jharkhand border. However a thriving regional Pathan kingdom existed there since the 1600s.
The Shia rulers of Rajnagar had created an affluent regional capital with rich cultural traditions and an elaborate court culture, especially in the 1700s.
During the rule of Asadullah Khan, Rajnagar developed a very close connection with Murshidabad, emulating the court etiquette and fineries of this new capital city of Bengal province.

@carvalho_mike @rajivmehta19 Is this route from China (Tibet) ?
English

@rajivmehta19 The route is strength with rocks between Camp 2 and Camp 3. Also, Steps 1 to 3 and the Traverse part look very dangerous. Overal this route is much more challenging than the South Col route from Nepal side.

Chinese high-altitude photographer Ma Chunlin captured an incredible two-minute and twenty-six-second #video filmed in a single take with a drone, showcasing the journey from #Everest Base Camp (EBC) to the summit.
Remarkably, Chunlin made this ascent in just fifteen minutes! The footage was recorded between 6:55 and 7:10 a.m. on May 19, after he identified the ideal window of opportunity based on the perfect combination of #space, time, and #weather conditions.
Typically, permission to fly #drones from the north side of Everest (Tibet) is not granted, but Chunlin managed to overcome this challenge. In a previous #attempt in 2024, his #drone had been destroyed by a heavy snowstorm near Camp 3, but he refused to give up.
Enjoy this breathtaking video!
