Before I left today’s conference in DC I made a quick stop by the memorial outside the Georgetown Law Center to remember the more than 100 million people around the world who died as victims to communism.

On Gene Valacenti’s new show, “Gene Off Script”, I talked about Rhode Island’s absence from the state fair. While Congressman Seth Magaziner dismissed it as a “sh*t show.” Too often, hatred for a president has overshadowed love of country and even love of our own state. Rhode Islanders deserve leaders who will put our state first and proudly represent us. Link to the full interview below.

Happy Fourth of July! Not only are we celebrating the 250th year of independence, but this year was also the 100th annual Ancients and Horribles Parade — the funnest parade in Rhode Island. Special thanks to all the people who participated, volunteered to make it happen, and came out to celebrate with us in the middle of a heat wave!

SCOTUS will hear the constitutional challenge to assault weapons bans next term! Within a year from today I believe the Democratic supermajority legislators who voted for this law will find out the Constitution still matters.

This is Rhode Island’s contribution to America’s 250th birthday - an empty booth at the National Mall. The state that demanded a Bill of Rights couldn’t show up to celebrate. Other states found a way, ours didn’t.

When asked to reject socialism, the Governor went missing faster than a campaign promise.

The Governor admits this moratorium won’t improve student outcomes, won’t help students in district schools, won’t improve outcomes at charter schools, and won’t fill the vacant charter seats that already exist. So why sign it? Because this bill was never about students. It was about politics.

The governor didn’t sign a bill. He signed a “Do Not Enter” sign for educational opportunity.

The governor had a choice: students or politics. Today, politics won.

After charter school moratorium moved the goalposts during the game for De La Comunidad Bilingual Public Charter School, @JessicaforRI threw a Hail Mary pass- an amendment to remove retroactive language in the bill to keep the school on the path to final approval. Failed 21-15.

The Senate passed a record high $15.2 billion state budget with a 32-6 vote on June 9, 2026. @JessicaforRI puts forth an amendment to include the legislature and judiciary as subject to an Office of Inspector General. The measure failed with a 26-12 vote.
