Politics aside for a bit, celebrate this: Until today, the filibuster record was held by Sen. Thurmond from my home state of SC. Thurmond’s filibuster was in opposition to the Civil Rights Act. Tonight, that record was broken by a Black Senator. That’s just beautiful.
