This shouldn't be controversial and should be an automatic deportation. There is a HIGH number of applicants for citizenship and for PR that are receiving conditional discharges in cases that are not publicized like this one to protect their immigration prospects. If you commit a serious crime in Canada during your application process, it should be an automatic deportation if found guilty.

@by__brittany The court ruled that it was cruel and unusual punishment for mandatory minimums in cases like this. To suggest it's cruel or unusual to keep those targeting the most vulnerable behind bars for a set period of time is insane to me. What a terrible decision.

I am disgusted. The Supreme Court just threw out mandatory minimum sentences for child porn offenders. Children suffer for life. Predators get “second chances”? Protect children! Not criminals.
