The only thing that makes Guts “special” is a net negative: by existing on the border, he is destined to struggle. His perseverance through that is entirely by his own will. Being half Astral isn’t the cause of that

🚨 Berserk Chapter 384 Spoilers This is one of the greatest long-term setups in Berserk. Miura didn’t make Guts’ birth tragic just for shock value. It was the first piece of foreshadowing that he didn’t enter the world like a normal human. He was born of his mother's corpse, on the boundary between life and death, the physical world and the astral world. Guts is the collision of both worlds. Griffith is causality’s chosen one. Guts is causality’s mistake. Two sides of the same coin.
