a few weeks ago i saw some accounts talking about me downstream of the discourse about leaving a sleeping baby to go next door. one lady was like “that girl seems to think she’s smart and some kind of philosopher but obviously isn’t because she’s always saying things like “idk” and “stuff.”
i thought this was super interesting. i know a bunch of smart ppl who speak really casually. in circles of smart ppl everyone can just plainly see if ideas are good or interesting.
but in most circles, it’s actually a reasonable heuristic to assume ppl speaking casually aren’t very smart, bc the medium-smart ppl are more often than not trying to perform smartness by saying stuff like “as my aforementioned thesis asserted” or whatever and the actual dumb ppl are like “yeah idk and stuff lolz.”
idk tho, i might just be a little dumb. i expect it would be hard to know from the inside. either way i do not claim to be a philosopher and do not wish to be called one.

I agree with Matt walsh here. I never finished college and I've read through the Odyssey twice. Not the Iliad though. The only version I have is chapman, fresh out of the dark ages. But I refuse to read another translation

i was super excited for the food when i went to vietnam and i had a few amazing meals, but pho is a daily staple there and it was super boring and usually didn’t even have herbs. i was there for a month and the best banh mi i’ve eaten is still in palo alto.
