Today @GovDanMcKee signed new healthcare reforms into law, including my bill ending prior authorization for PCPs. With RI’s doctor shortage, we need doctors treating patients, not battling insurance companies. One more small step toward the healthcare system we all deserve.

Democrats, this isn’t it. Even good-hearted, smart, reasonable people make mistakes. Rubbing it in with a “told ya so” is not how we move forward, and this kind of arrogance is a big part of why we’ve lost. Let’s show some grace.

6000 people in Cranston & Warwick again without power from yet another outage—the third time in a month. Rhode Island Energy seriously needs to get their act together and ratepayers need to be compensated. This is unacceptable.

Very disappointed to see @MayorKenHopkins attack a well-respected judge with such an ignorant, reckless, and false claim. Judge Isherwood—appointed by a Republican—was simply doing his job and applying the law as written. The Mayor should retract this statement and apologize.

Here at the @RIHouseofReps with Rep. Scott Slater, where we just passed a new budget that finally puts our Safe Staffing law into effect & directs 100% of new funding to our nursing home frontline workers. Honored to work alongside such a staunch advocate for our most vulnerable.

I’m deeply saddened by the assassination of Speaker Melissa Hortman. May her memory give us the resolve to always condemn political violence, and the courage to never cower to those who seek to silence us through fear. Praying for her children and our country. This must stop.

Had a great visit to Budlong Manor in Cranston today to hear from residents about what matters most. We talked about the importance of protecting Medicaid and SNAP, both of which are under threat in the budget bill moving through Congress. We can and must do better.

Rep. Karen Alzate and Rep. Brandon Potter (@BrandonPotterRI) joined the Economic Progress Institute (@EconProgressRI) and RI Predatory Lending Reform Coalition to highlight two key consumer protection bills aimed at ending exploitative lending practices. Rep. Alzate’s bill (2025 H-5042) would cap the annual percentage rate (APR) on payday loans at 36%, bringing Rhode Island in line with national standards. Rep. Potter’s bill (2025 H-6055) seeks to close loopholes that allow out-of-state lenders to bypass Rhode Island’s interest rate limits.
