I was proud to join the annual Dominican Independence and Heritage Awards Committee at the State House to honor our friends and neighbors of Dominican heritage who are making a difference across our state.

ICE needs to be reined in, but we can continue to fund other parts of the Dept. of Homeland Security in the meantime. I am supporting a bill to ensure that TSA, FEMA, and Coast Guard are funded while we negotiate much-needed reforms to ICE.

Washington too often fails to work for working people because of dark money flowing into Super PACs, fueling corruption. I support the DISCLOSE Act to make it illegal for unlimited anonymous money to flow into Super PACs and corrupt elections.

More than 60 million older Americans deserve a voice in Congress on issues like caregiving, protecting Medicare, and the ability to retire with dignity. That is why I am proposing a Select Committee on Aging to keep these issues front and center in Congress.

On St. Patrick’s Day, I joined the Congressional Irish Caucus to meet with Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin to discuss the strong ties between Ireland and Rhode Island.

Today at long last a plaque hangs in the Capitol to honor the police officers who risked their lives to defend democracy on January 6th. We can never forget the shameful actions of the violent mob that day, or the heroism of the men and women in uniform who stood up to them.

My job is to bring the voices of working people in Rhode Island to Congress. Today, I welcomed @WhipKClark to our state to hear directly from Rhode Island union leaders about the challenges workers face and the need for fair pay and better safety on the job.

The Old Town House in North Kingstown has witnessed generations of history – from Civil War veterans gatherings to its use as an American Legion Post amid WWII. I am proud to deliver $620K to preserve this history & to convert it for use as a gathering place for years to come.

The Civil Air Patrol was created during WWII to bring civilians into serving our nation. Today they still answer the call with search and rescue missions, education, and mentorship through their cadet program. Tonight we honor some standout cadets & volunteers.

South Kingstown residents will soon have a place to gather, get help, celebrate birthdays, work, or study – thanks to $850K of funding we delivered for a new community center at Champagne Heights.

State and municipal workers show up every day to keep Rhode Island running. It’s time we honor their public service again. I was proud to join @RIC94AFSCME for their 50th anniversary and honor the legacy of Council 94 President J. Michael Downey.

The numbers are in: Because of Donald Trump and Republicans’ cuts to Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, Rhode Islanders are paying more for health insurance and thousands have lost their insurance completely.

I worked with @SenJackReed and @SenWhitehouse to secure funding for the Ocean Community YMCA in Westerly to transform its lower level into a space where young people can stay active and productive. It was awesome to cut the ribbon today!
