I’ve never understood the last 10-15 years especially: you pay pitchers astronomical salaries and then expect them to work less and less each year. If you’re on my team and I’m paying 30 million a year, you’re going to be out there until your arm has lost all feeling and you have nothing left to give. And you’re gonna do it again in five days.

It has nothing to do with exploitation jack. It’s an open market. If you’re being paid to be a workhorse then be a workhorse. If your aim is to get 200 innings at most out of a guy, fine, pay him fairly for that and spend more money on offensive firepower, or the litany of bullpen arms you’ll need. It’s silly to pay a guy stupid money so you can get him out of the game as quickly as possible and turn it over to a revolving door of bullpen guys who even at 100% their best aren’t half as good as the starter your manager just yanked after 85 pitches.

Nah, chicagos (springfield too) driving this state in the ground and is largely beyond saving. Which is why you see an exodus from that area for people and business.
Our entire tax system in illinois revolves around paying for chicago and all their fuck ups.
