@rkrager8 By the same standard people would've tried to run Bluder out of town for like 15 years prior to the 2019 Elite Eight run.
English

@rkrager8 They shot like 80% down the stretch because everything was at the basket or an offensive rebound. Iowa had a few rough possessions forcing contested twos against their size.

@kyler416 Feels like the Rockies have done this a few times in recent history.
English

@kyler416 Leadoff strikeout followed by fan DOOM about how the season will go.
English

@SportDunceDiary @agraybee I understand the scoring system. The cannon results we're aware of indicate that catching the snitch wins the game most of the time. I realize there are outliers where it doesn't. That's why I said 90%. I also think fans would lose interest in many of those longer games.
English

@BraydonRoberts5 @agraybee Sort of. The point scoring system is by 10s.
Catching the snitch isn’t an automatic win, it’s gives you 150 points and ends the match so not only can it sometimes take days or longer to catch but you also have to be strategic about the score differential when you catch it.
English

@DaveZajicek5 @agraybee And basketball generally has more field goals scored in a game than Quidditch just perusing known cannon scores. So with fewer goals scored a 15+ goal lead would be harder to achieve.
English

@DaveZajicek5 @agraybee Basketball is a fairly good real world equivalent in that its a game in which two teams trade possessions trying to score. A 15 field goal advantage in basketball is 30+ points. A lead of that size is rare and almost always because of talent disparity.
English

@axiochrono @agraybee That's basically what I'm getting at. There's a number the snitch could be valued at to still give it importance but make the rest of the game competitive. 15x a regular goal just isn't that number or particularly close.
English

@BraydonRoberts5 @agraybee I love how the real life version of Quidditch had to reduce the snitch's point value from 150 to 30 in order for the game to even be remotely entertaining.
English

@DaveZajicek5 @agraybee Thing is, to get down by 150+ there would either have to be a huge talent disparity or something would've gone wrong (like a crucial player injured). Basically if they get down that much, the chance they reduce it below 150 is low. So they'd never have incentive to catch it.
English

@BraydonRoberts5 @agraybee Having to be aware of the state of the game and strategize isn't necessarily bad? Idk to what extent do rules allow seekers to block other seekers from catching the snitch, but HarryxMalfoy was usually pretty brutal, so I could see that be a reasonable role to play in this case.
English

@DaveZajicek5 @agraybee Part of the problem is if a team gets down by more points than the snitch is worth, they now have no competitive incentive to catch the snitch and end the match. So either: catching the snitch makes most of the other scoring irrelevant or one team is no longer trying to catch it
English

@BraydonRoberts5 @agraybee I do feel like to a large extent this is due to just how good of a catcher Harry is written to be.
As in maybe most matches don't end quickly because most catchers aren't just godly good at seeking a miniature ball on a huge ass field with unlimited verticality?
English

@STL_Stats_Facts Libby due mostly to age. Randy is a 2-3 WAR outfielder on the wrong side of 30 now. Libby seems to be finding his footing in MLB and is just starting his age 26 season.

👀 We’ve got a surprise release coming…
You might recognize this one.
Or maybe you won’t… yet.
Listen closely.
The clues are there.

@SkimMilkey Props to her for being a 5th year sophomore. That's tough to achieve. Shows her determination.
English

Did you guys know that according to ESPN, Raven Johnson is a sophomore?
Undefeated.
Logan@loganstephens24
begging and pleading for espn to fact check their articles. raven johnson is not a sophomore. she's one of the most well known players in the sport and they can't even get her year right. every day it's something. truly incredible coverage. @skimmilkey add it to the list.
English

@rkrager8 No worries! That's one of the interesting parts of the tournament. There are probably 50-100 teams better than Farleigh Dickinson that don't get in.
English

@rkrager8 Fairleigh Dickinson was an automatic qualifier for winning their conference tournament.
