There are several ways for former catholics to excommunicate themselves, one of which is to publicly commit apostasy and separate from their religion. What is the point of this? It changes how they view you, you are no longer part of their thing. Perhaps it gives them less power to harass you with prayers and rites (sorcery and curses)- it's always a good idea to pick up the free money as far as using your enemies own beliefs against them. Even if they are unaware you made the statement, it could be affected by how millions of people view something. However, I didn't know until I just looked into it that for this to work you have to be aware of this penalty and publicly state you are separated from the Catholic Church- let this be my public announcement to that effect. I reject the Catholic Church, I left it a long time ago and I am proud of this fact, and make this statement in good mental standing in full knowledge and not under duress.
