@Thekoreangooner @femooafc @nufcpb You might dislike spurs but it's not for the same reasons that Arsenal fans from London hate spurs
English

@Thekoreangooner @femooafc @nufcpb And if you'd like blue, you would've ended up a Chelsea fan. You might love the club. But you can't say you have the same connection to the club as someone from North London who supports them. I wouldn't support Sunderland just cos I liked red & white stripes
English

In NFL terms, I really like the Steelers, my Mrs is from there, I’ve been there multiple times but I can never and will never claim to have the same connection as someone born in Pittsburgh
femi.@femooafc
Are British fans glory hunters for following the NBA instead of the SBL? Don't see many people talking about the Bristol Flyers.
English

@Bren_Capstaff @Wes_AFC @nufcpb or because someone in their life drew them to the team. or they found a jersey and fell in love with he color way. or their family supports the team.
you're so caught up in these teams "success" you undermine people's stories and it's weird
English

@Thekoreangooner @femooafc @nufcpb Great, that's a lovely story. How did they pick the shirt for you? Does it have something to do with arsenal being a successful team? So if Arsenal won 3-2, they'd only show Arsenals highlights and not the other teams?
English

@Bren_Capstaff @femooafc @nufcpb I actually didn’t I was gifted an arsenal jersey as a 6 year old and stuck with them 😘 and yes they only showed big 6 highlights in a different country
English

@Bren_Capstaff @Wes_AFC @nufcpb see? context.
most people pick their club not only because they won things and that's the reality people trying to explain.
English

@Bren_Capstaff @Wes_AFC @nufcpb There’s teams who would die for the chance to see their team to play Champions League football. Are new Newcastle fans glory hunters because they have a more successes than 99% of teams in the championship?
English

@Wes_AFC @femooafc @nufcpb Class, there you go. You actually have a decent reason to support them. Let's not pretend arsenal have been shite for decades though. 4 FA Cups and 5 Community shields in the last 20 years as well as various other finals. 99% of teams would kill for that level of success
English

@Bren_Capstaff @femooafc @nufcpb He has family from London who support Arsenal. Is that enough or does it still not count? Also, spare me the glory hunting accusations because Arsenal have been ridiculed precisely for not being successful for decades.
English

@Wes_AFC @femooafc @nufcpb Great, so what links to Arsenal and North London does your friend have? There's nothing wrong with picking a successful team. But don't tell me it's in your DNA, cos you wouldn't have started supporting them 20 years ago if they were shit. It's why you don't support Bolton
English

@Bren_Capstaff @femooafc @nufcpb I started supporting them as a kid because of my best friend, the one who taught me how to play football. We used to watch the games whenever we could (hard in the US in those days). I've been supporting them for 20 years. I didn't choose them "on a whim", I grew up with it.
English

@Thekoreangooner @femooafc @nufcpb It wasn't just the big 6 playing each other though was it? They play 14 other teams twice a season, so how come you didn't end up with one of the other 14? You saw arsenal winning, and you picked them. That's absolutely fine
English

@Bren_Capstaff @femooafc @nufcpb We “glory hunt” because when we were kids the most we got was highlights of the big six and that was it we didn’t get championship games covered so invalidating it by calling it glory hunting is just wrong
English

@Wes_AFC @femooafc @nufcpb Other than arsenal being a highly successful team, why do you support them other than "on a whim". Do you have links to the team, area? Do your parents support them? There's nothing wrong with it. I support the Denver Broncos for no other reason than they were the team I fancied
English

@Bren_Capstaff @femooafc @nufcpb You have no idea why or how people decide to support a club. "On a whim" is an incredibly condescending attitude towards foreign fandom
English

@femooafc @nufcpb The original tweet is about glory hunting though. You chose to support one of the most successful teams in England and fair fucks, you clearly love them. But you could've chosen Bradford. When you're from the areas or your parents support a team, you don't get to choose your team
English

@Bren_Capstaff @nufcpb but they aren't acting like they are connected to the area. in fact, I'd say it's even harder to be a foreign dan because thereare no real environmental factors that makes the expeierence more enjoyable bar individual effort to feel it
I just don't like how they are underminded
English

@Bren_Capstaff @nufcpb Nobody is saying the feeling is the same.
But I'll argue, you also have no idea what that person who lives 2000 miles away, but spent their life savings to travel to celebrate with you guys at the parade who could just catch a bus.
Is that persons connect invalid?
English
