Tuberculosis remains one of the deadliest diseases killing over 3000 people every day. To protect lives, @WHO recommends new portable, simple-to-use tests at reduced costs for faster detection and treatment of TB. On #WorldTBDay, WHO calls on all countries to scale up access to these and other tools so every person with TB can be reached and treated promptly. who.int/news/item/24-0…

@dgouldca It is great news but sad that the provincial hand was forced by a federal requirement rather than reaching this much needed and overdue action on their own

Hon. Prime Minister @MarkJCarney please add to your important naming of Black Canadian icons -- Bernice Redmon -- Canada’s first Black RN #Nurse #BerniceRedmonRN was a remarkable Black woman born in 1917 in Toronto. The only Black family in their community. Redmon went to study in the US as she was barred from enrolling in Canadian nursing schools. As the CEO of @RNAO I am ashamed of this and apologize for this racist injustice 💔 I invite you and all to learn about #Canadas RN icon #BerniceRedmonRN: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernice_R… bernicecarnegie.com/carnegie-family @fordnation @SylviaJonesMPP @NatKusendova @MaritStiles @JohnFraserOS @MikeSchreiner13

The history of Black Canadians is one of relentless progress, earned through perseverance, and carried forward by opening doors for so many to follow.    This week, we celebrated 30 years of Black History Month in Canada.

Violence against women is one of the oldest and most persistent health problems, yet least acted upon. An estimated 840 million women globally – 1 in 3 women – have faced violence at least once in their lifetime including 263 million who have suffered sexual violence. Behind every statistic is a woman or girl whose life has been forever altered. We urge governments, law makers, policy makers, families, communities, and health systems to work together to make sure women and girls are empowered and safe everywhere. This is prerequisite for peace, development and health. who.int/news/item/19-1…

Invisible Wounds
Invisible Wounds@Events4Wellness·
At the 10th Annual Invisible Wounds Mental Wellness Conference for First Responders and Clinicians October 6-7, 2025 in Niagara Falls, Canada, Nicolas Stone, the audio video technician for the event for the past few years, was moved to write a song that was played for the delegates, resulting in a standing ovation. Nic has given Invisible Wounds permission to share this song publicly on our social media channels. We are very grateful to Nic, who has provided the following description of the song: STILL THEY RUN This song was written in tribute to all first responders - police, fire fighters, 911 dispatch operators, ER doctors and nurses, military, paramedics, ambulance drivers - any and all those who answer the call. The purpose of the song is to bring awareness to the silent, invisible wounds that many first responders experience in life because of what they do. While we all see them as heroes - we never think of what they experience and how it can affect them when the emergency is over! To all our heroes - this is for you!
