It’s so dumb that physicians need to get a medical license in every state. They all have different processes and takes forever. Why doesn’t a startup create a national medical license? Physicians just pay an annual fee and can practice anywhere. Is anyone building this?

We really need to end the “hey so” tyranny. Philologers would call this “the nagging particle” or “particles of annoyance” or some such. Just real garbage.

@carolinedowney_ @NRO You thought that a city boasting Irish and Italian ancestry - captured in popular media for the past 25 years - wasn’t Catholic?

I think of Boston as a bit of a pagan town. But I just left mass where young people packed every pew, with the confessional line 40 strong at least. Could not have imagined this while I was a college student here 5 years ago

These people must read different ancient sources in Latin than I do. Ancient Rome sucked for most people. Just about everything is better today.

@rorycooper Yes it sucks, but when else will you feel like you’re in one of the Jawas’ sand trawlers? Invaluable and unmatched

@amazingmap This map isn’t correct - the portion of yellow between Boston and Rhode Island was settled prior to 1660.

The reason the Wharf in DC seems to have way more soul than NoMa or Navy Yard despite having the exact same architectural style is just that it’s entirely pedestrianized. Without cars, it brims with life like a European street

I can’t believe you still have this , but as a parent, commuter, and former ANC, I’ve seen firsthand how speeding impacts “lower income Black communities” more than anyone else in this city. I literally talked about this and the data is public by the way

This is predatory an adversely affects the lower income black community in DC, hence why everyone responding negatively to me ALL look the same. Even found my LinkedIn to figure out where I work. 😂 Take your covert racism somewhere else. Ask about me, I’m not the one.

@Brett_Ewer @ReubenR80027912 My small addition: increase the 5500-EZ numbers to $1 million and increase it with inflation. Direct the IRS to work with software companies so that it can be part of tax season.

401ks are phenomenal tools to force 10% savings rates. Ironically the closer you get to top 1% incomes, the less powerful it gets The sea change in auto enrollment + better matches + immediate vests over last 15 yrs have been huge benefits to workers no one talks about
Overeducated Gibbon@MostlyMonkey

Ever want to see what hyperbolic discounting looks like? In order to have 600k in 40 years (today's dollars) you only have to put away 5k/yr and get a 5% post-inflation return. That will fund something like 30k/yr of spending in today's dollars in retirement. Seems good!

@Brett_Ewer @ReubenR80027912 I’m for all of them. They have improved the system in dozens of ways, paying for them by making the benefits less regressive. We should do a SECURE every five years or so. Bring on the best 30-50 new common sense ideas.

Cannot even conceive of a medication that overdelivers more than Afrin. Oh, you’re congested? Poor thing. Here, experience your sinuses as they were before the Fall of Man. This gift I grant you for three days and nights—but no longer.
