@conorsen It’s downstream of the founders of these companies, their employees, and a big chunk of their user base being edgelords and of a certain political persuasion

Using an average instead of a median on a left-truncated distribution is a crime against mathematics.

@thesamparr 1. Average age on Kalshi is 33 years old. 2. An open, fair, and transparent marketplace that rewards informed trading and doesn’t derive all profits from customer losses is better than a platform that actively bans winners and promotes unhealthy behaviors.

@JonAguiar I think you’ve lost the plot if you think majority of America thinks Iran is going poorly or that Rubio is to blame instead of the billions of dollars Dems gave Iran to build the drone Air Force…

Vance and Rubio are a combined 70% to get the Republican nomination. It's not hard to see a world where they come out of this Iran disaster too toxic to be the nominee

If you remove free throws from everyone, Bam Adebayo's night would rank 73rd all-time. Most points in single game 1. Wilt 100 2. Bam 83 3. Kobe 81 Most points without free throws 1. Wilt 72 (100-pt game) 2. Kobe 63 (81-pt game) 3. Wilt 62 (78-pt game) -- T-73. Bam 48

@ActionNetworkHQ Lots of people are posting about it but for USA to not advance they need Mexico to win and both Italy and Mexico to allow fewer than 11 runs across two games. Italy has already allowed 6 and Mexico 5. So as soon as Italy allows 5 runs (i.e. Mexico scores 5) they are good.

@TradeandMoney @RichardHanania And the market should only tank in the first place if you don’t think a TACO is happening. It’s a whole mind game.

@RichardHanania I think the market widely expects a TACO. The trick is, as with the tariffs the first two times, you need the market to tank to get rewarded with a TACO.

So in the approximately two weeks since the start of the Iran War, the S&P 500 is down 0.6%. Popular discourse has treated this as an economic catastrophe. The market has not seen it that way. For comparison, "Liberation Day" tariffs tanked the market by 12% within days, taking about a month to get back to pre-tariff levels as it became clear that Trump was backing off. Had the market continued to tank after the Iran War started, this would be treated as a clear indication that the war has been a disaster. But since the market has basically shrugged, we ignore it and find other reasons to pretend that the war is going badly.

Just got off the phone with my cousins in Italy. They’re saying this is right up there with winning the World Cup in ’06. Rome won’t sleep tonight. Parades around the Colosseum are being planned as we speak. THERE IS NO TOMORROW!!!

FINAL: Italy 8, USA 6 One of the biggest upsets in WBC history as the Americans go down. Aaron Judge was up as the tying run with two outs in the ninth. Greg Weissert struck him out, and the Americans’ ability to advance now depends on the Italy-Mexico game Wednesday night.

Small possibility Mexico scoring 5 would be bad too if multiple runs are unearned.

So given this 8-6 Italy over USA result and the prior 5-3 Mexico over USA, USA does NOT advance if: - Mexico wins while scoring 4 runs or fewer. Late inning runs were big for the Americans.

@JeffDLowe I think USA still is good if Mexico scores 5 and wins as long as at least 4 of them are earned runs?

@SteveBirnie @tangotiger I think it’s just dependent on what Mexico scores (if they win). Italy’s score will by definition be less than that.

USA has given up 11 runs so far to Italy + Mexico Mexico has given up 5 to USA. Say they give up 5 to Italy Italy has given up 1 to USA. Say they give up 9 to Mexico Mexico and Italy advance USA has to score as much as they can right now
