Want to increase the numbers of kids participating in your #sporting Club? Three steps: 1. Take responsibility for it. National associations are not there to solve all your problems. For one - they don't know your community, your local politics, your local people - only YOU know how to connect with your community. 2. From the first step you take into the Club - as a coach, an administrator, a parent - say, "I am going to make this the best possible experience and the most fun any kid has ever had at a sporting club". Forget worrying about talent or buying new equipment or who gets the new Stand named after them - make it fun! 3. In every situation - in all discussions - in all Committee meetings - begin and end with one simple premise - "We're here for them". Too many Clubs fail because they make it all about the Club and not about the people who come to play, to coach, to officiate and to enjoy being there together.
