When we think about early old world settlers of NC, we tend to think of the English, Scots-Irish, and Scottish. But NC has some serious German roots. As a matter of fact, there were Germans included in the second expedition to Roanoke in 1580. 💫 Then in the 1700s, NC had a large influx of German settlers who came into New Bern. Others joined them. The Pennsylvania Dutch came down the Great Wagon Road settling in the Piedmont. We even had some Hessian soldiers who abandoned their units, deciding to stay in America — I’m descended from one. Our state cookie is the Moravian cookie and Old Salem is a giant living museum dedicated to the Moravians who settled Winston-Salem. Yet, as often happens as time progresses, many of us have lost touch with many of our German traditions. Some of the most beautiful of those rituals involve Christmas… which is why my family started celebrating St. Nicholas Day. 🎅🏼 Want to know about this old world tradition? Tyreek Hill was going 100+ MPH they had to gas it to catch him. Then he threatens the officer don't touch my window. But still refuses to keep the window down so the officer can see he isn't getting a gun. He was given many chances to comply. He believes after beating his GF with no consequences he is above the law. Obviously they all believed that. Should have all been arrested. That is interference with a lawful duty.
