@ChrisPacia Example can be flipped to favor blue. If your options are: Blue: Nothing happens. Red: You live, Everyone else dies. Vast majority will pick blue. If you change the terms of Red to “You live, if a majority press red, those who pick blue die” Would ppl change their vote?

One more attempt at articulating why the red button pushers view the blue button pushers as so irrational. Let's say your options are this: Red Button: Nothing happens to you. Blue Button: Kills you instantly. If everyone is confronted with that choice, why would anyone push the blue button? Would we not expect 100% of people to push the red button? Now if you change the terms and add a proviso that the blue button pushers will be spared if a majority of people push the blue button, wouldn't your reaction be: "Ok, well. We've already established that nobody's going to push to Blue Button so this shouldn't change anything for anyone". If your reaction suddenly becomes "Omg we need to organize a campaign to get everyone to push the blue button and you're Hitler if you push red" ... Its like.. um what?

@TheLaurenChen If EVERYONE pushes red, nothing happens. If >50% push blue, nothing happens. You will never see 100% of people pushing red, so it is wiser to push blue.

Reading people's justifications for pushing the blue button is actually spiking my cortisol levels If everybody pushes red - nothing happens! So why on earth would anyone press blue? It's a needless gamble, but it's being painted as the altruistic decision for some reason

If you push the red button, you get $100. If you push the blue button, you get $100 if over half of people push the blue button and otherwise get nothing.
