@BrianisTuft @moorehn i used to go from mommy’s to either metro or macri (rip) all the time! but we were always the only gay people. also, mommy’s used to be called “basik” til the end of 2024/beginning of 2025.

I went to Mother’s recently with friends. Cute patio space. I jokingly asked if they were in a feud. What surprised me is that the bartender said yes. That they went to community board meeting and practically begged Mommy’s owners not to name the bar that and they did it anyway.

In East Williamsburg there is a bar called Mommy’s and a bar called Mother’s within a block of each other. I won’t psychoanalyze this but you can if you want.

@sweatyhabibti @moorehn Apparently Mother’s opened in 2008, Mommy’s much more recently. Both bars are the same distance from Metropolitan. But in different directions. So they were like this is going to be confusing to our customers. Which is true! I ended up at Mommy’s first but didn’t see my friends.
