@LeoSlack_ @UnitedStandMUFC How? The point I was making is you can't continue to always blame the players. Or squad is better than last season but playing worse football. That's down to the manager

🚨🎙️ | Michael Carrick on whether he might operate differently if he got the #MUFC job permanently: “I’ve NEVER approached a day here in terms of any short-term decisions. “From me and my staff, we've made decisions for the LONG-TERM. Individually as players, how we treat them and help develop them. “I do NOT think it would change the approach.”

Give Luis Enrique this current Manchester United team and I promise you he won’t surpass Carrick’s win rate so far. This is not PSG where you can lose three starters and still bring on world class replacements. This is not Bayern where every position has quality depth and physical dominance. Carrick is managing a very thin and weak squad which is evident and calling him a coward after one poor performance ignores the reality of the squad he’s working with. Today’s football was ugly and frustrating, yes. But ugly football from an incomplete squad does not automatically mean the manager lacks ideas. Sometimes it simply means the squad lacks the quality, profiles and depth needed to execute those ideas consistently. Carrick may deserve criticism for today, but acting like he’d fail with elite squads is pure exaggeration. Managers are judged by the tools they have, and right now we still look like an incomplete team.
#CarrickOUT@Utdbeni

Give Carrick the entire PSG and Bayern squad and he will make mid table clubs dominate him. He doesn’t have it in him, a fantastic press resistant midfielder yet his football is the ugliest I have seen since Ole. I never imagined him to be this coward in his approach when he becomes a manager.

@iam_commando We needed better players in January but the board would not support Amorim and now you're complaining, it was obvious then we needed depth in the squad. Why weren't you complaining then?

Today wasn’t just a bad performance, it was a reality check. Casemiro’s injury meant Carrick had to push Mason Mount into a deeper midfield role he clearly isn’t suited for. and Sesko’s unavailability means he had to rely on Zirkzee to lead the line. That alone tells you how fragile this squad still is. People want to judge Carrick like they don’t know we were a few injuries away from a below standard performance. It is evident the team lacks quality in multiple positions and squad depth. One or two injuries and the entire structure is in shambles. The midfield loses control, the attack loses presence, and the bench offers very little to change games. If Enrique is the coach with this current squad, he might not get better results than Carrick has so far. This isn’t about making excuses for a poor display. We were bad today but pretending the squad is strong enough to compete consistently at the highest level is ignoring reality. Carrick has already shown what this team can look like when key players are available, beating top sides and dragging United back into the Champions League places. Today exposed the bigger issue. We need better players, better depth and a more balanced squad.

No one will say anything about him because he’s Carrington Zidane, because he’s an Academy graduate and because he’s the fan’s favorite. I don’t want to hear he has more time, what I want to know is why Kobbie Mainoo can’t succeed in a midfield without a 40 year old Casemiro. Perhaps Casemiro has been covering him up and no one knows. “Amorim was stoopid for benching him” what do y’all have to say now? Kobbie is good but not too good. He can’t boss a midfield yet, he’s still a growing player who needs support but you won’t believe because he’s your favorite.

I don't have an issue with Carrick being United's manager. However, if Ineos decide to give him the job, then he needs to be interviewed again. The question should be "what style of football will you implement going forward?" If he can answer that convincingly, give him the job.

Michael Carrick has left the Stadium of Light in more despondent moods. “Don’t ever forget what this feels like,” Sir Alex Ferguson told Carrick and the other crestfallen Manchester United players on the bus leaving Sunderland after news came through of Aguerooo and City’s title winner in 2012. Carrick never forgot that feeling of misery and anger. Disappointment with today’s draw is nothing in comparison, of course, but Carrick will be in reflective mood as he leaves SOL. Just because he doesn’t throw verbal fireworks around during post-match interviews doesn’t mean he’s not passionate about reviving United. He is. Everyone knows how deeply Carrick cares about United. Most around him know how driven he is, too, and that he wants to play attractive football. As he did as a player there. Performances definitely need to be better, and fans' frustration with that side of the Carrick spell is understandable. Sunderland were the better side, by most accounts, and United were indebted to Lammens. But it was all about stabilising United for now. Carrick has done well as interim - 10 wins, 3 draws, 2 losses. He’s dispensed with the wrong system, put players in their best position, restored belief and got United back into Champions League positions. Third is all but guaranteed. Third. United were sixth and drifting when Carrick took over. But he’s not a miracle worker. That squad needs strengthening. United need proper cover in attack when Sesko is out. Zirkzee simply isn’t good enough. They need a left-back and left-winger. Most importantly, a successor to Casemiro. If anybody understands the need for United to regain control of midfield it is Carrick, who played there 464 times for them (minus a few at emergency centre-back). Sir Jim Ratcliffe might want a bigger name but Carrick has surely earned a shot at input into summer signings, a pre-season, and a chance to show what a Carrick Manchester United can do. #MUFC

Not expecting to learn anything about Carrick over these last few games, that’s a big part of why I don’t think it’s meaningful to wait for a decision. Same football - more rotation and less to play for, it was inevitable to look wose. Some players though…

@LeoSlack_ @UnitedStandMUFC We have been blaming players since 2014, Amorim joined in 2024 and changed things. He got rid of the jokers and we improved and then demanded more from the board and they refused, they changed the manager and now you blame all the players again, it's like repeat, repeat, repeat

Genuine question. Are you convinced by Carrick's style? It is clear that many of those players are just not good enough. Maguire is a liability that has been holding the club back for years. Shaw can't pick 1 cross. Mount. Lol. Is it a player thing only? Or manager?
