Rowdy, a 26-year-old gelding (about 80 in human years) owned by Melinda Miller, enjoys natural hydrotherapy each summer at Lake Pleasant, Arizona. He swims and floats in the lake to relieve his arthritis. The buoyancy of the water provides joint relief without the impact of land exercise. One year his owner added a floatie over his head. Rowdy learned to relax comfortably without his head submerging. Videos of the senior horse floating have made him a local celebrity.

Help @HedgehogCabin I have rats now in the garden (probably due to a neighbour keeping chickens) they are now showing themselves in the day, so their numbers might be growing. How can I protect the hedgehogs if I set rat traps 😬 thinking of using an electric one.

@BridgetThorley Taz has a dollop on his nozzles, but mine are black so I don't burn. He really doesn't like it though, and sticks his nose as high as he can in the air... Momma G stood on a bucket to get him this morning! 🤭

Please NEVER feed a daytime wildlife casualty. I know, it's so hard not to. When we see a suffering animal we feel a strong, innate impulse to help, and a desire to provide immediate tangible comfort; equating food with survival and care. Feeding feels like a direct, immediate and nurturing action to alleviate suffering. Yet it is the most catastrophically harmful thing you could ever do. Especially hedgehogs out in the day, who will be hypothermic. It takes a lot of energy to digest food, energy these compromised animals just don't have spare. Every last bit of their energy is being used to maintain vital bodily functions - to keep the heart beating, to oxygenate the organs. Forcing energy away from these critical functions for something as non-critical as digesting food will be a death sentence. It won't be immediate, it may take hours, or a couple of days, but eventually, no matter what the experienced rescue you later take them to tries, the animal is already on the unstoppable journey into shock, aspiration, organ failure and death. So please help in the right way. An out in the day hedgehog needs *contact* warmth, a safe indoor space away from flies, and cover to reduce their stress (please see advice below). They are not going to die of starvation in the couple of hours between you finding them, and getting them to a rescue.😊 And please remember - any website that gives you DIY information on caring for or feeding injured or orphaned wildlife is, by default, wrong. The ONLY right action is to get them to a good rescue (never a vet) where their complex needs can be met. Even if you have seen this vital information before and understand it, feeding wildlife casualties is a powerful compulsion because it directly activates human instincts of empathy and compassion, often overriding the scientific advice against it. So please remember this warning and spread it as far as you can. Helping a wildlife casualty get to the expert treatment they need is an incredibly kind, altruistic act of great humanity. Just remember to provide them with what they need, not what you need.🥰

Oaks And Lions 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
The south door of St Saviour’s Church in Dartmouth is one of the finest medieval doors in England. It is oak, iron, faith, monarchy and craftsmanship held together in one extraordinary object. The door’s ironwork shows a great Tree of Life spreading across the oak. Around it are two leopards, symbols associated with the Plantagenets, worked into the design with remarkable medieval skill. The date 1631 appears on the door, but that is not its true beginning. This marks a later refurbishment. The oak itself was carbon-dated in the 1970s and was found to have been felled before 1372. A door made before Chaucer had finished his Canterbury Tales. Still standing after more than six centuries. #EnglishHistory #MedievalHistory #EnglishHeritage

Happy Christmas pals! 🌲 Don't worry... We've not gone crazy - Toby's human was in Honduras at the 'real' Christmas, so because she's home for a bit they're doing it today! The tree is up, lunch is being prepped, presents are wrapped and we've had tinsel with extra carrots! 😂

A woman transporting rescue cats to their new homes had no choice but to put some in cargo. When the plane landed in Athens, Greece, she watched nervously through the window as luggage came down the ramp. Then she saw a baggage handler pick up each cat carrier slowly, crouch down, look inside, and gently talk to the animals one by one. He didn’t know anyone was watching. His name is Archie Ardales, 32, originally from the Philippines. When asked why he did it, he said the cats were probably scared because it was their first flight. He just wanted to comfort them.

Momma G's bought some grass mats, and Mr Farmer's son is going to put down some hardcore; together those things are going to make a firm walkway to our paddock! Meanwhile we're in pony-prison again without a single bite to eat! 😩
