Gold smuggling on plane... IndiGo 6E-1478 from Dubai... Customs & engineers find (~$448.6k USD) worth of 2.8kg 24K gold biscuits hidden in the front lav speaker at Ahmedabad. Perfect concealment, no claimant. Question is, how did they know to check there? Those components aren't touched on normal short transits unless a snag is written up. *Video from AMD customs

@dampedspring Due to a libertarian streak, I did care about permissionless and decentralized. Until that was fully eroded to the point that cash is less traceable than crypto. That USP no longer exists.

I guess my biggest struggle with crypto is that I just don't care whatsoever about decentralization and permissionless. It seems to me to be essentially the same as the physical gold folks. The question I ask myself is given that I don't care about that at all is it possible to have a discussion with those who do. My experience over the last 10 years in crypto is it is not possible. In gold it's been 30 years.

Turkish Airlines 777-3Q8 (TC-LKD) after it clipped a ground radar antenna pole with its right wing while taxiing at Antalya today. Flight TK2430 from IST landed normally, but during the turn to parking.... wing meets pole. You can see the overhead bins messed up and oxygen masks hanging down in the middle rows. Powerful hit! All 267 pax evacuated safely, one minor injury.

Finally got my hands of them. A whole carton of Kim Jong Un’s go-to cigarettes (allegedly). North Korea’s domestically produced 7.27 cigs named after the victory day of the liberation war against the US, July 27, 1953.

As an Apple Watch Ultra (1st gen) user, I’m disappointed with Apple. Imagine spending $800 on a smartwatch only for it to lose software support after just 3 years. Sure, the watch will still work fine, but you’ll miss out on new features and improvements that come with future watchOS updates. This has honestly made me reconsider buying another Apple Watch in the future. If I ever get one again, it’ll probably be an SE model, or I may just switch to another smartwatch brand entirely, because this just doesn’t feel acceptable to me.

NEW: malware developers added nuclear & biological weapons text to to their spyware. Goal? To trigger LLM safety refusals... so that their spyware wouldn't be analyzed by an AI security scanner. Cleanest practical example I can think of for why over-indexing on first order safety alignment is risky. When closed (and open) models ship with aggressive refusals, they will be sprinkled with second-order blindspots that attackers will discover...and exploit. We are only in the earliest days of attackers leveraging these features, and it wouldn't surprise me if users systems that need to handle complex cybersecurity issues demand that models be less safety-blunted. In the weeds: @SocketSecurity's post also shows why intention matters in how you design a malware analysis pipeline to avoid prompt manipulation. H/T to colleagues that shared this with me socket.dev/blog/mini-shai…

@Brink_Thinker You slowed down the video, but she did not actually slow down the guy's fall. This scene would have been exactly the same if she was home cooking and nowhere near that scaffold.

@SamGuichelaar I don’t know why you think it’s more useful out of Europe, but it’s not. It’s completely useless on every continent.

I really wish Apple would let us delete the *26 GB* of data Apple Intelligence takes up on our Mac's, especially since Apple Intelligence is all but useless in Europe anyway. Having 167 gb of System Data is insane. I'd hoped MacOS fixed this.
