@pub_that @MikeParcej @333peterobinson Exactly that. Costs are driving most down. We are a small independent with mainly 5 star reviews, minimal numbers of amazing staff and we’ve lost money year on year. By pretty much the amount we pay in VAT.

@MikeParcej @333peterobinson Unfortunately Mike, if you talk to those busy pubs they’ll tell you it’s still a struggle to turn a profit. Problem isn’t footfall for most, it’s the cost of doing businesses and price increases…only to be made worse in April with the huge hike in taxes on employment.

Sorry folks. I can't accept that the hospitality business is on its knees. The problem is that the UK is useless at looking after its customers. Most who welcome folk are busy! Irish pubs are rammed in Ireland!!

@pub_that @Keir_Starmer Agreed! Impossible to get ahead with rents, business rates, wages etc. 8 years in. Total profit -£45,000 - only surviving due to both working full time other jobs. 🙄 - slow death by a thousand cuts! Thank you governments!

@Keir_Starmer I spoke to a Publican the other day who had to leave her pub due to unsustainable debt, she had worked hard for over 20 years, it was also her home and she is now in temporary living accommodation. Lots of other hard working publicans are facing the same due to your budget.

@pub_that Can get your beer cooler triple dipped. I’ve not had mine on for 2 years now as £6k for a replacement. it’s an old building with below ground cellar and I don’t have cask. happened to me, dropped £2k on repair and it went a few weeks later and they said, oh it needs replacing.

HELP!! Guy has come out to fix our cellar cooler and it’s now packed up altogether!! No replacement available until Monday on what will be an extremely hot weekend! Any advice, help, solutions please??? Also got a fill cellar of beer that will spoil!

@JamesDuncanRoss Feel your pain mate. We had a great week before the bank holiday week, thinking, oh great 2 weeks in a row busy only to have a quiet bank holiday week and back to square one. The really quiet after. No pattern, can’t get ahead and bills racking up.
