Following a laundry mixup, I can confirm that Marks and Spencers age 13 boys’ jeans are both comfortable and flattering. Contemplating raiding some bedrooms to see what other VAT- free delights I might have waiting for me in the M&S children’s department.

Really hope people don’t miss flights today @BristolAirport with trials of new security scanners. Only 2 out of 8 lanes open during Easter holidays . Tannoi giving wrong guidance to travellers, having to be over ridden by stressed security staff shouting different instructions 🤦‍♀️

COVID & ICU Intensive care capacity cannot be measured by counting BEDs. It, at the very least, requires Staff, Space, Systems & Stuff Delighted to see this out today. bmj.com/content/385/bm… A narrative discussing -how the pandemic unfolded in ICUs in the UK (asymmetrically & dynamically) -the response by ICU teams (immediate, selfless & prolonged) -the differences in the March 2020 & Jan 2021 waves (both overwhelming but for different reasons & with differing solutions) -the impact on ICU staff (profound & persistent) While the focus is on ICU the message applies to much of secondary care, which we try to make clear. A pleasure to write with & learn from @charlot_summers & @Kevin_Fong @bmj_latest

@NTLive The most astounding performance , the intensity was something else . Andew Scott deserves ALL the awards for this . He made it funny which I certainly didn’t get from a very period version I saw years ago. Loved the ☘️accents and was totally captivated all the way through. BRAVO!

@NTLive I wasn't expecting the Irish. I wasn't expecting it to be funny. I wasn't expecting Scott to be so good at women. It was exquisite. I could watch it all over again. Thank you NTLive.

Horrified at the death of the best hope for a peaceful political future in Russia. Whether or not he was physically murdered, Navalny would still be alive if he hadn’t been in the brutal grip of Putin’s state. Ultimately, Putin bears responsibility for what happened to Navalny.

@AshFranRoy @Channel4 @storyfilms_tv Brilliant series. Impressed by @ASPolice & chief constable letting cameras in. Shocking cases -investigation process takes WAY too long ,all while officers suspended on full pay!Reflective practise sanction came across as just a friendly chat ,no confrontation of bad behaviours!

@MaggieOliverUK @Channel4 Well said , a truly shocking watch , but good to see some of the investigators had real integrity .However investigations take SO long , potential offending officers suspended on full pay and then can resign to avoid punishment. Impressed that @ASPolice allowed such good access

Maggie Oliver@MaggieOliverUK·
I have watched the first two episodes of the @Channel4 documentary and like most people watching I have been both horrified and brought to tears by the actions of the officers featured, and the brutality with which vulnerable people have been treated without any real consequences. But more than that, I’ve also seen that the experiences of the ‘victims’ featured reflect the experiences of the many who come to @TMOFCharity The Maggie Oliver Foundation for help. And by this I mean those who have the courage to complain about their treatment, whatever that may be, but then in the vast majority of cases see their legitimate complaints just being ‘whitewashed’ by an internal Professional Standards Departments who are most definitely NOT independent, and more often than not find there is nothing to answer. And this is why I repeatedly say that the #police complaints system is unfit for purpose, and it is just police ‘marking their own homework’, and finding multiple ways to excuse what is in truth inexcusable behaviour. However, I have to say I have the greatest respect for this particular Chief Constable of @ASPolice Sarah Crew. I know without a shadow of a doubt that she will have been attacked, criticised and pilloried by other Chief Constables throughout the Uk who will have questioned why on Earth she ever allowed this programme to be made and then aired for all the world to see. I see it very differently. I believe that it is only by being o-en, transparent and honest and shining a spotlight on this broken system will we ever shock the nation into demanding the changes we need. What has been shown in this documentary is shocking, but unfortunately it is also the shocking truth! And I have to ask myself if the real reason this Chief Constable allowed this Programme to be made is that she recognises full well that the system is completely broken, and she has tried to through conversation and persuasion to bring about change, but has failed to have her voice heard by all those who will resist reform with every last breath . She knows the ‘old boys network’ is protecting the status quo and so has decided the only way to bring in the much needed changes is by showing the full reality of how the police are policing the police - even when any sane, reasonable person knows this is wrong. And the cases shown have been excruciatingly painful and heart wrenching to watch. Food for thought…… is Sarah Crew a rare Senior public servant, really a woman of the people, wanting to fight for the rights of the public she serves rather than protect the institution in the way virtually every Chief Constable or Senior officer I’ve ever known always insists on doing? Or does she now believe she made a mistake? I would like to believe that through her actions, the public will now see the full horror and reality of what we and countless victims see repeated daily. The cover ups and ‘skewed’ judgements from internal ‘investigations’ of what unbelievable actions of officers who shouldn’t be in this job. A job that demands empathy, kindness, public trust and a good sense of judgement. I hope this programme brings about change. And I hope this Chief Constable survives the incredible pressure she will now be under if she wants to continue to open up the conversations by exposing the reality, raising awareness so the public demand a radical overhaul. I’ll be watching with the greatest of interest….. somersetcountygazette.co.uk/news/24101396.…
