In 1975 two little boys met on the first day of Big School. One could do maths, the other English and so began a lifelong friendship. We've been through births, deaths and marriages but haven't skied together for 45 years. In the year of the big 60 seemed hightime to remedy that.

I have chosen books I love, because we're small there has to be a certain amount of curation. But I do have broad taste (I think). I do like some books by old, white men; but also other genders and ethnicities. What should I have said? What was he looking for that I didn't have?

Just had my first really horrible experience as a bookseller. A man came in and looked around for quite a while. I asked if he needed any help and he said, 'you clearly don't stock anything for old, white men in here do you?' I was stunned. I tried my best to remain polite...

Mixed emotions today as I work my last shift at Southmead with @NorthBristolNHS after nearly 24 years. It’s been the most amazing time but onto new challenges in Neuro Rehab at Gloucester as Clinical Training Manager. Thanks for the memories 💙❤️🥲

@pipdivall Well now, this weekend am going to 40th anniversary uni reunion. Which really ought to be impossible as I remember starting like it was yesterday.

Today I’ve been an NHS librarian for 20 years. TWENTY years. God, I am old. Still learning how to do it too. Not quite mastered it yet.

Not often seen sharing the same space, mother and mother-in-law. Combined age - 180! Seems a good time to be recognising the matriarchs.

Year ago today we reached John O'Groats so naturally the occasion had to be marked with a bike ride.
