The British Baseball Federation (BBF) is proud to announce that June’s @GB_Baseball Women’s Baseball Invitational Tournament has received official sanction from the world governing body, the World Baseball Softball Confederation @WBSC The tournament is the first event in Great Britain’s baseball’s history to receive this recognition. After recently returning from Spring Training in Holland at the Amsterdam Pirates baseball complex, where the @GB_Baseball Women’s National Team - along with members of the development squad - were joined by the Quebec Women’s Baseball Academy, the British Baseball Federation and Great Britain Baseball Team are pleased to announce the 26-player extended roster for this year’s WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup Qualifiers, which will take place in Chinese Taipei this August.

Today marks the 79th anniversary of Jackie Robinson’s historic debut with the Brooklyn Dodgers. On April 15, 1947, Robinson broke Major League Baseball’s colour barrier, forever changing the game and helping pave the way for greater equality both on and off the field. His courage, resilience, and undeniable talent challenged long-standing racial segregation in professional sports and inspired generations to come. Robinson’s impact and legacy are forever remembered each year on April 15th, now celebrated across Major League Baseball as Jackie Robinson Day, a day when every player wears his iconic number 42 in tribute to his enduring influence.

Player registration for the 2026 BBF Women’s Baseball League is now open. The 2026 league has been designed to be flexible, welcoming and competitive whether you are brand new to the sport or experienced. Events will be held on weekends from May to August with balanced squads being selected from registered players for each event. Over the next two weekends, baseball teams across the country will celebrate their opening days of the ’26 season. We’d like to remind players, coaches, and spectators about the RESPECT campaign. This offseason, 310 newly qualified Level 6 umpires completed courses held nationwide, bringing the total number of qualified umpires in Britain to 518. These new officials, along with those already qualified, deserve respect from everyone involved in the game.  There are two dates available to choose from: ⚾11th April – Croydon ⚾18th April – Cambridge Try-outs are open to players born in 2014, 2015, or 2016.

The British Baseball Federation has announced the launch of a new U16 Youth National Baseball League for the 2026 season. Backed jointly by BBF Youth and National Teams, the new league will be led by U16 League Commissioner Larry Peters, with the endorsement of GB U18 and U15 Head Coaches Matt Moran and Ian Griebenow. Two of @GB_Baseball rising young stars will be among the 90 top European U19 players at MLB’s 2026 European Development Tournament being held in Barcelona in April. Charlie Battista (GB U18s and U15s) and Owen Bourgeois (U18s and U23s) have been selected to take part in the six day tournament in front of scouts from MLB clubs and US Colleges.
