💛 “I was hoping one of y’all would pull me aside to talk to me again.” That’s what a student said when her teacher and I sat down with her about struggling in class. So often, we assume kids don’t care. We write them off as lazy or unmotivated. But sometimes, they’re just waiting for someone to care enough to notice. To pull them aside — not in a hallway or classroom where they feel exposed — but in a quiet space where they can be vulnerable and safe. Improving schools isn’t just about systems or procedures. It’s about moments like this — reaching that kid. The one who’s struggling. The one who can’t seem to behave. The one without a champion. Change doesn’t start with a program.
