There’ll be workshops, panels and activities covering a whole range of left politics. Come along to learn about practice, theory, and how we can all get involved to transform ourselves, Bristol, and the world! - 100 years on from the 1926 General Strike in the UK - how did it get organised, who took part and what can we learn - Organising for Palestine - discussing revolutionary praxis with the Bristol Apartheid Free Zone Should we all join the Greens? Or should we make Your Party Our party? Untangling the puzzle of the left parties in Britain - Comrade Delta - A conversation with David Renton about his new book and what the left can learn about the scandals and failures of the SWP, the largest far left party in Britain How to radicalise your union? Ideas and approaches to building power and class solidarity in local branches - Socialist Housing - how can we fight for more and better social housing and take a step towards destroying landlordism in the UK’s third most expensive city to rent in. As always, we will have you covered for free childcare all weekend, courtesy of our Childcare Caucus - included in the cost of a ticket! We are also excited to announce a brand new addition to this year's festival - a young people's programme aimed at 11-16 year olds. This is as well as our crèche for lefty little ones. Run by experienced youth workers and BT organisers, expect sessions including: - March on the Boss: a tactic for activists of all ages - Protest songs workshop from Glasgow Anarchist Choir - An introduction to colonialism and capitalism through an interactive game All under 16s get in free to the festival. 🔔 SESSION ANNOUNCEMENT 🔔 Join us tomorrow, outside in the Den at 3:30pm, for this important discussion on education and its role in changing the world Social movements from across the world, and over time, have prioritised education for the role it plays in consciousness raising and movement building. In this session, we look at two key educators/theorists behind the idea of ‘education for freedom’, bell hooks and Paolo Freire. We will take some of their ideas as a jumping off point before going on to discuss our experiences and thoughts as a group: What does education for freedom mean to us? Where do we find it in our lives now? How do we learn from it and share these ideas with others? Nb. This session is part of a PhD research project and, with the participants’ consent, anonymised contributions will be included in the PhD thesis

The Bristol Transformed Childcare Caucus is a group of Bristol-based activists who provide free childcare for meetings and events that align with the political values and program of Bristol Transformed. There is a core group of organisers, who decide which groups to work with, work with other organisers to plan childcare arrangements, and are responsible for childcare on the day. The core group is supported by a wider network of volunteers who help to provide childcare at the events. The creche will be open to children of all ages, with no minimum. Join us on Sunday morning for a special screening & discussion with the film maker of "Pouring Water On Troubled Oil". In 1951, the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company set out to produce a Technicolour publicity film promoting its activities in Iran. Curiously, they hired Dylan Thomas, the world renowned Welsh poet and author of Under Milk Wood. Combining colonial archival photographs with Thomas's lyrical account (performed in voiceover by actor Michael Sheen), this documentary film follows the poet's journey through the country, capturing his haunting encounter with oil and colonialism, as a political upheaval for oil nationalisation unfolds. Thomas's job, he would later remark, was to “pour water on troubled oil”. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the filmmaker Dr Nariman Massoumi (@nazmassoumi ), Associate Professor in Film, and Dr Mattin Biglari, Lecturer in Asian and Middle Eastern Environmental History and expert on oil and colonisation in Iran. The American empire, which facilitated the genocide in Gaza, has kidnapped a head of state in Venezuela and started a devastating illegal war in Iran murdering thousands in what could turn into an even more catastrophic war. In partnership with America in Iran, "Israel" continues its assault on Gaza, while widening its conflicts into Lebanon. How does socialism answer this most pressing issue of our time? How must we organise against this? Join the closing panel on Sunday with Bristol Apartheid-Free Zone, Palestine Youth Movement, Workers For a Free Palestine (@Workers4Pal) and Energy Embargo for Palestine (@EEforpalestine), discussing their theories and practices around anti-Imperialist organising.
