@ChrisJo00291974@rabbitholebot The fish myth comes from anti-Catholic, Protestant writers, who linked the mitre to Dagon to suggest pagan influence.
Superficial visual similarity and mistrust of Catholics helped it spread, despite not having any evidence.
The usual.
The miter is not just headwear but a direct nod to Dagon, the ancient fish god of the Philistines. They want you to think it is just a hat, but look at the silhouette. It represents a literal open mouth of a fish. This is about power and lineage. The church keeps these pagan symbols in plain sight because they mock those who do not know the history. It is hidden in the open, laughing at the masses.

@rabbitholebot The mitre worn by the Pope developed from late Roman ceremonial headgear, not a fish. Its two peaks symbolize the Old and New Testaments or teaching authority.
The fish claim is a modern myth with no historical evidence.
Don’t get it twisted. Nobody has been more critical of Swalwell over the years. I tried repeatedly to get the stories out. I can’t force women to speak out, and when they chose not to, I didn’t push. I also knew that Swalwell was known to threaten litigation.
I’ve covered Eric Swawell since he was a member of the Dublin City Council. Shortly after being elected to Congress in 2013, his behavior towards women was known by all levels of our local government and the Alameda County Democratic Party.
@ArchangeloRom@XCkyro@megbasham I was delighted when I found out that the Church has no fixed position on creationism. As someone who studied geography at university, I couldn't reconcile the science with a literal interpretation of Genesis.
I'm glad I didn't have to.
“Our theology” - which one of the thousands of opposing Protestant theologies are you talking about?
Btw, you can be a global flood 6 day creationist in Catholicism if you want. There’s no dogma there. I’d think it’s kinda weird personally on the 6 literal day issue, but you’d be in good company as many fine Catholics believe that too.
Can anyone recommend a Protestant podcaster who offers an apologia of our theology against Catholic theology who is a clear creationist—six days, global flood?
I know there are some who do this who are local flood, symbolic creation type of people and I’m not interested in them. If it’s someone, for example, who would promote Biologos and Francis Collins or work with Biologos, I don’t want that guy.
Is there anyone like this?
@derrickvanorden@VeryBrexitProbs If the amount of factual information in this post is an indication of your general intelligence, you might want to sit this one out, ducky.
General Dan Caine, Trump’s handpicked Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, boast is not the flex he thinks it is.
10,000 missions. Sounds like an impressive display of independent US airpower until you see where they actually flew from.
Some flew from carriers in the Arabian Sea, primarily the USS Abraham Lincoln. But one carrier can only generate around 70-80 sorties a day.
The USS Gerald R. Ford? Damaged by fire and pulled out for repairs. Its replacement is still sailing from Norfolk, Virginia. You can’t run a war from one ship.
62 bomber missions. Only 18 flew from the US. Most of the remaining 44? RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, England. A British airfield in the Cotswolds is the heart of America’s bomber war against Iran.
The F-35s and F-15Es? RAF Lakenheath, Suffolk. The F-15E shot down over Iran last week? 48th Fighter Wing based in England.
The F-16 Wild Weasels suppressing Iranian air defences? Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany.
The munitions? Likely drawn from US stockpiles at Ramstein, Germany.
The aerial refuelling tankers that made all of it possible? Around 50 across the UK, Germany and Portugal. Another 35 in Spain, Italy, Greece and Bulgaria. That’s 85 tankers on European NATO soil.
The US has zero permanently based fighters in the Middle East. Outside of one operational carrier, every fighter that flew over Iran came from or through European NATO bases.
Without European NATO this war could not have been fought. That is not an opinion. It is a logistics fact.
Trump told the world “the United States does not need the help of anyone.”
Except the overwhelming majority of the 10,000 missions was only made possible thanks to the European NATO allies he spent two months insulting
Maybe General Caine should remind Trump who actually holds all the cards. Has he even said thank you yet?
The #1 reason Catholics leave Rome?
The Bible.
When you compare the teachings of Rome with the plain text of Scripture, you might start to wonder which book Rome was reading.
Am I the only one to be a tad suspicious that the Iran war was started to get Epstein out of the headlines, and now they’re using Epstein to get the Iran war fiasco out of the headlines?
@EricIdle Through Starlink, Elon Musk expanded uncensored internet access in restrictive regions, including Ukraine and Iran.
This allows people to continue communicating despite shutdowns and suppression.
@MethodMinistry Vatican II encouraged Communion once again under both kinds where appropriate. It did this to express fuller sacramental sign, but at the same time, reaffirming Christ is fully present in either species, so both are equally valid.
So... I'm not sure what you are talking about.
@MethodMinistry By the Middle Ages (AD 1000–1300) the Catholic Church increasingly reserved the chalice for clergy due to practical concerns. By the 13th Century, it was common practice.
