I just discovered “The Rockford Files” 2 weeks ago on GET TV.
I born after it was aired and never heard about it, other than older generations talking about it
What a great show and so well acted. James Garner is amazing. The scripts are quite intellectual and dealing with complex themes. Saw one episode about a bunch of jocks who beat some nerdy students to death (years before “Revenge of the Nerds”) and another about cults
Its 70s aesthetics is the biggest star of the show. That car, the fashions, the hot women, and the politically incorrectness of it all
I am glad I only discovered this show in 2026. I have many gems from the pre-woke, Monoculture era that I haven’t seen, and that will keep me entertained for a lifetime. I don’t need to watch new garbage
Kinda feel bad for people who have seen all of these great older shows already. Like Alexander after he conquered the world, they must weep, for all they have nothing worthwhile to watch

Jim Rockford might have been down on his luck - unreliable clients, living in a trailer, he hadn't even paid off that answerphone machine - but as a kid I loved that gold Pontiac Firebird. It even had a small press in the back seat for printing undercover fake business cards.

The musical prodigy Karen Carpenter was #BornOnThisDay . As a drummer (and a v. good one) she never expected to be admired for her perfectly pitched , distinctive contralto voice. It just could not be ignored.
