in most other countries not actual dictatorships, this outrageously corrupt government would have fallen by now; if a prime minister were the leader, by this time his own party would have voted "no confidence." but US is stuck with a sclerotic & antiquated system of democracy, a "republic" established in a time of slavery & voting rights limited to white male landowners. nothing can dislodge those in power until the next election--if here is a next election.

Here is why Anti-AI folks are generally wrong about AI. They think the AI is not creative and destroys the value of creativity. AI is neither creative nor not creative. It is a tool. Up until very recently, ideas were basically free, and the barrier was the cost of execution. AI is driving down the cost of execution. That means software is essentially becoming cheap. So all sorts of ideas are much easier to execute. This is good. But it comes with a downside. Commodification drives cheap products. Hence the AI slop - you aren't finding out that AI is stupid, you are finding out that most people have really stupid ideas that the commodification of software is making easy for them to show off. So as execution becomes cheap, ideas become expensive, because now the most successful people will be those who value the best ideas as a function of time. You could spend forever creating AI slop, or you could spend that same forever creating the ideas that matter. Instead of recognizing that AI is providing us more time to work on the ideas that matter, we are arguing about whether a human or an AI should be responsible for billboard textures in a taxi game...

If big companies can't make a net return on their LLM token costs, that doesn't mean it's impossible to. In fact this is exactly what you'd expect to happen with a new technology. Incumbents can't use it well, and are replaced by upstarts who can.

The SAVE America Act has my full support. Requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections is common sense. American elections should be decided by American citizens.
