44 years ago today, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was signed into law. It laid the foundation for a stronger, more just Canada.
It is up to us all to protect the values of freedom and equality enshrined in the Charter — to keep building a better Canada, for all.

Enacted on April 17, 1982, when Queen Elizabeth II signed the Proclamation of the Constitution Act, 1982, it helps ensure all Canadians can live free from discrimination.

The biggest "dirty backroom deal" happened last year when a party leader forced a sitting MP in a safe riding to resign so that the leader could run in a byelection in that riding and win, after the said leader had lost in his own riding!
Now that's a real dirty backroom deal!
