The media has been breathlessly selling a MAGA civil war over Operation Epic Fury. Victor Davis Hanson just torpedoed the narrative with actual numbers.
An NBC poll shows 90% of self-identified MAGA Republicans support the Iran strikes. Five percent disagree.
That's not a civil war. That's a rounding error with a podcast.
VDH identifies exactly who's doing the objecting — the Steve Bannon wing, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, maybe Megyn Kelly — and he takes their argument seriously enough to actually answer it. Their claim: this violates MAGA's no-optional-wars philosophy.
Hanson's answer is precise. It would violate that philosophy 𝘪𝘧 we inserted ground troops and stayed for months. This is different. This is an air-only campaign. And it has characteristics we've genuinely never seen before — it's a top-down war, targeting leadership, not rank and file. We are not building democracy in the rubble. We are dismantling a terror regime's military capacity from the air and going home.
Trump has three available outcomes here, none of which require a ground invasion. The MAGA base understands that distinction. Ninety percent of them understand it.
The media needed a Republican civil war story. They found five percent and called it a movement.

Tucker Carlson announces that the United States government may be preparing to arrest him through a CIA criminal referral.
The government is reportedly claiming that Carlson’s interviews with Iranian leaders before the war began may have violated the law.
He says the government spied on him, read his text messages, and is now trying to imprison him like Julian Assange and Edward Snowden.

So he invites him to the Oval Office before the strike… knowing Tucker will run straight back and relay it.
Iran sees this photo.
Thinks Tucker has Trump’s ear.
Thinks Trump is bluffing.
Meanwhile Trump’s sitting there smiling because he wanted them to believe it.
Tucker’s ego sells the deception.
Khamenei buys it.
And just like that Tucker unknowingly helps take out the Supreme Leader… and now Americas biggest traitor may be heading to prison.

Checkmate.
Trump didn’t just play Tucker Carlson; he turned the man into a living, breathing vector of strategic deception, a Trojan horse wrapped in bow-tie smugness and self-regard.
That Oval Office photo op wasn’t optics.
It was a precision-engineered psyop, calibrated with the lethal patience of a grandmaster who understands the Iranian mind the way a predator understands the scent of fear.
Think about it.
Tucker, the self-anointed oracle of anti-interventionist purity, had been running back-channel chatter with Tehran...contacts he still pretends were noble, journalistic, pure.
Trump knew.
The IC knew.
And instead of shutting it down, the 47th leveraged it like a scalpel. Invite the peacock into the sanctum, let the cameras capture the staged bonhomie, let the Iranians watch their favorite Western skeptic cozy up to the man they feared most.
Psychology 101, executed with venomous brilliance:
exploit the ego of the useful idiot.
Tucker’s narcissism...his need to be the contrarian sage, the lone voice “brave” enough to talk to the mullahs...made him the perfect dupe.
He broadcast credibility where none existed.
The Supreme Leader’s inner circle, paranoid by doctrine and history, swallowed the misdirection because it fed their deepest bias: Americans are decadent, divided, unserious.
They bet on hesitation.
