1/6 Today I gave 5 pieces of advice to our new @UMichSurgery interns. First I asked them if they had a culture. “Not yet” I suggested they would soon and when they were chiefs, they would own the culture of the residency. They will create it starting now. So my 5 tips👇

The last few weeks have been so eye-opening and rewarding overall. I was able to take part in numerous Hispanic women’s urologic care who both were appreciative of having a Latina physician on the team. We need more Hispanic women in Urology. This is just the beginning! #UroSoMe

Talking to a patient in Spanish who looks and speaks like my dad is the moment that reminds me why I went into medicine. My parents never had that moment with physicians when I was a kid. Keep finding those moments with patients that remind you why you chose medicine.

Good luck to everyone submitting their ERAS! Some tips during your interviews: 1. Be yourself! Remember you are a confident baddie who made it this far and you have a lot to offer to this program. They need you as much as you need them.
