PSA: If you're going to carry a firearm and drugs, don't do it right outside the jail! 🚔👮‍♂️ Deputies assisted a stalled vehicle near the Harris County Jail and smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search uncovered crack cocaine, marijuana, and a loaded Glock 23. The District Attorney’s Office accepted charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon.

During Human Trafficking Awareness Month, detectives worked undercover to identify victims, bring services directly to them, and dismantle trafficking networks—while holding buyers accountable. Operation Phoenix is about trust, safety, and second chances.

Training plays a vital role in maintaining jail security. Lieutenant Jason Bullock and his team are actively instructing personnel assigned to jail operations on proper screening procedures. At the Harris County Jail, screening isn’t limited to inmates—every staff member and visitor is thoroughly screened before entering secured areas to help ensure a safe and orderly environment. Early this morning, @HCSOTexas deputies responded to a call for service at the 18600 block of Atlantic Drive (Humble). Kenyon Levor Coleman (12-15-77), was armed with an automatic rifle, allegedly waiting for deputies in a wooded area. Upon arrival, deputies were met with gunfire. No deputies were injured. It appears the weapon had jammed and Coleman was unable to clear it. Coleman retreated into the wooded area, but was subsequently located and taken into custody. The weapon was located. Appears as though the initial call for service was a possible fake/swatting call. Coleman wore all black clothing and had a chair set up armed with the rifle and numerous amounts of ammunition. Coleman was charged with Aggravated Assault of a Police Officer and booked in the Harris County Jail. I thank God no deputies were hurt. #HouNews

At @hcsotexas, our commitment to progress never stops. Today, we enhanced security at the Joint Processing Center (JPC) with the installation of a Leidos Body Scanner. This advanced screening technology helps swiftly detect contraband and weapons, creating a safer environment for both staff and inmates. 🚫🔫🔪💊💉🔥🚬🚫
