I’m excited to be able to share that I am joining Bound (@Bound_HQ) as Bound Wisconsin Manager. In my role I will create content on Bound channels as the state’s high school sports expert, facilitate the build out of a new home for stats, schedules, and scores in Wisconsin (Bound is the official resource for the state of Iowa), and help Bound introduce its outstanding full suite of tools to schools, conferences, & associations in the Badger State. Bound (gobound.com) is the official home for stats, schedules, and standings for the Iowa High School Athletic Association and the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union with tools coaches have used and loved for years. The South Dakota High School Athletic Association, Canyon Athletic Association, and Sunshine Athletic Association are among the many other partners that include schools, conferences, and more. Bound brings school communities together with 20 solutions on one platform. It’s intuitive to use, delivers value instantly, and provides a unified view of athletic programs at every level. I am leaving WSN. I can’t believe I’m saying that. I can’t believe it’s happening. It has been 17 amazing years at a place I’m very proud of, and have devoted so much to. But it is time. There are changes coming to WSN that I don’t feel are in my best interest. So I’m leaving on my terms, as hard as that is. I don’t own WSN and never have, but I’ve treated it as if I was my baby from the beginning. I’ve been incredibly lucky to get to do this for this long, as high school sports are a true passion of mine. It has become my identity in many ways (going to have to change that “TW WSN” license plate maybe). I’m very thankful for all that have been along on this journey, including many great co-workers over the years (big shoutout to @nkartos for giving me the opportunity almost exactly this time back in 2008), and the coaches, players, AD’s, officials, WIAA staff, fans, and everyone else along the way has been amazing. This is not a decision I take lightly, and has weighed on me considerably. “If fear was not part of the equation, how would your life look different?” is something I’ve thought about frequently. I’m trying to avoid fear-based decisions. It isn’t easy. As for what’s next? To borrow from the greatest quarterback in NFL history, it’s a beautiful mystery. But one I hope to provide additional clarity on very soon.
