@roscoe2021 @Roger_Chiasson @walsha The 21 year old freshman aren't typically the future NHLers, but they're why the future NHLers are now choosing to come. It's a bigger, older league, which prepares them to slide into the NHL at 18/19. That's the point.

@roscoe2021 @Roger_Chiasson @walsha I get it. Junior hockey is a mess, but this rule doesn't solve that. If anything, you'll see kids starting their junior careers earlier, when they're less prepared to navigate it.

@Roger_Chiasson @roscoe2021 @walsha It's just not the same. I played in the late 90's and have an '08 navigating his path now. The NCAA FINALLY has emerged as the premiere development path for the NHL...why would they stand idle when these changes would clearly alter that.

@roscoe2021 @walsha Bingo. I played in the late 80s with virtually 100% 18/19 yo freshmen in D1. Then LSSU, Maine started the jr age out 20/21 trend which morphed across all D1, D3 and now AHCA so now the entire 🏒 world is on a 2-3 year post HS delay. New rule realigns 🏒 with all other sports.

@JayRauser @Jessemedscience I thought the same thing as you, but I'd argue that those names validate the idea of playing them. All of those guys got minutes, got exposed, and moved on from without remorse. His point is that you need to give a stretch to them before pulling plug prematurely.

@Jessemedscience There were also tons of people who said the same thing with Bjork, JFK, Studnicka, Beeacher, Vakanienen, Spooner. Theres always a chance they could go off and a good chance they could be a bust. I really dont see it in Lysel his compete level isnt even close to Mintens

What’s happening with Fraser Minten is exactly the reason Boston should (and will) explore integrating Matthew Poitras and Fabian Lysell into this lineup Not for a cup of coffee, but a serious opportunity to contribute. Toronto barely gave Minten a test drive before making the brutal mistake of projecting him as a bottom-6 forward with 3C (ceiling). It’s so easy for most fans to glimpse at a box score and make an uneducated determination about a player — (just admit you don’t watch AHL/NCAA games) As I have always said, Boston should proceed with caution with Lysell and Poitras. Boston doesn’t need to do anything significant at the deadline this year — they have some good young talent coming and risking longevity of success for a couple of extra days in April is not the play right now. Furthermore, I don’t think they miss a beat if they trim off the roster while getting a little younger — Marco Sturm has convinced me he knows what he’s doing #NHL #BRUINS #NHLBRUINS

Best Coaches I’ve ever had (not naming any names) *Troy Ward* best coach I never got to play for but taught me everything I know about the game in skills sessions. *Adam Foote*. Same category. Genius teacher when it comes to little details #1 Dave Hakstol. The Goat. #2 Dane Jackson. Maybe Best dude I’ve met in puck. Like an uncle to me. #3 Anders Sorenson (Might actually be number 1) #4 Luke Strand loved his mentality. Gave me my first real shot at being something. #5 Derek LaLonde (Beauty) shoutout GBG #6 Sheldon Keefe. Was ahead of his time how he processed the game. #7 Craig Berube. The Chief. NailGun. #8 Johnny Anderson. Straight out of slap shot. Legend of the game. Vodka Diet Cokes. #9 Pat Mikesch. All time guy. So smart on PP details. #10 Cory Murphy. One of the best assistants you could have. Shoutout IFK. #11 Eric Veilleux. He let J. Swish be J. Swish. Forever grateful for the Frenchman. Honestly should be higher on the list. #12 Brent Thompson. Just a guys’ guy. Wish I got more time with Tommer. I love old school beauties. -93.1

@wfhtrader @HockeyThinkTank MN sees ice rinks as important resources the way the rest of the country invests in baseball fields, soccer facilities, etc. The minute our rinks become privately owned and run by clubs, it all ends.

Last week I had a post comparing Minnesota and Michigan. I had a bunch of people reach out asking for the same exercise for Minnesota and Massachusetts. Here are the numbers: USA Hockey Youth Registration in 2007-2008: Minnesota: 45,168 Massachusetts: 40,017 Difference: 5,151 more players registered in MN over MA USA Hockey Youth Registration in 2024-2025: Minnesota: 50,597 Massachusetts: 40,120 Difference: 10,477 more players in MN registered over MA USA Hockey Youth Registration from 2008-2025: Minnesota: +5429 players Massachusetts: -103 players Difference: In 15 years, MN is +5,532 players registered over MA 2007-2008 Players in D1 College Hockey Minnesota: 211 Massachusetts: 122 Difference: 89 more D1 players from MN over MA 2024-2025 Players in D1 College Hockey Minnesota: 249 Massachusetts: 117 Difference: 132 more D1 players from MN over MA Players in D1 College Hockey from 2008-2025 Minnesota: +38 Massachusetts: -5 Difference: In 15 years, MN is +43 players in D1 hockey over MA 2008 NHL Draft Picks Minnesota: 11 Massachusetts: 4 Difference: 7 more players drafted from MN over MA 2025 NHL Draft Picks Minnesota: 17 Massachusetts: 2 Difference: 15 more players drafted from MN over MI. NHL Draft Picks from 2008-2025 Minnesota: +6 Massachusetts: -2 Difference: In 15 years, MN is +8 in NHL draft picks over MA *This isn't a great sample size and draft numbers fluctuate a lot, but still these numbers are telling. The numbers speak for themselves.

@wfhtrader @HockeyThinkTank I grew up in MA and have now lived in MN for 16 years. This is simply not true. Hockey is definitely #1 here, but it's not at all the ONLY sport that matters. It's simply the only area in the US that the municipal infrastructure sees as critical investment.

@Coachrosshockey @ChrisVannini You're not totally wrong, but there's a little nuance. Weak side wing should and can drop down, BUT Center can't leave net front unless he checks in with Nelson here. Have to stay until he checks off McDavid to Nelson.

Auston Matthews missed multiple point-blank winners in OT, lost the faceoff and drifted into the corner to leave Connor McDavid in the slot for the winner. Can't have that from your captain. Can't have it.
