@scrumming_ten Argentina did it with no World Cup winners and Ireland beat South Africa with no World Cup winners too.🤪

@fesshole I wouldn’t necessarily recommend someone publicly, you don’t know what dross would come their way. But would always recommend to people I knew and trusted would be good clients.

Self-employed builder here. Recently saw a client comment on a local Facebook page that they'd never publically recommend their builder (me) for fear I'd get too busy in the future to work for them again. Cheers. Never working for them again.

@threeredkings Do you think Furlong will break the PONI deals in the IRFU’s first real negotiations? Ok we’re prepared to offer €Xm. Leinster you’re good for 30% right? No! Oh, 20%? Nope. 10%? Nah. 2 packets of Taytos and 2 bags of spuds? Make it one and put Prendy on a PONI. DONE!

Obviously a bit of speculation here - maybe agent driven, maybe not - but it's pretty simple really. Furlong, along with Porter, are level raisers for this Ireland team and whatever money + time needed to get the deal done should be done. The gap behind Furlong is pretty big. Too big to risk.

@threeredkings Furlong knows his worth and will back himself to pick up a lucrative contract at a large number of clubs. He’s in a very strong negotiating position. His choice to take a year long contract a while back and go for an much improved deal when things picked up shows he is savvy.

@Overthehillprop Up to…… but for very important Ireland players who happen to play for Leinster let’s say 10%, no 5% (what do you think is the lowest we can get away with?)

Also note the IRFU policy to move away from central contracts to PONI deals. If Tadhg does get paid as he very deserves to then a nice chunk (up to 30%?) of his annual salary in the high 6 figures has to be paid by Leinster.
Overthehillprop@Overthehillprop

Top marks to Tadhgs agent. After Humphreys said no NIQ front rows it placed a massive premium on the existing starters in green. I assume this is him getting the slip of paper that says "see what they are willing to pay Tadhg. Now match it.... BITCH. "

@Concaj1 @thepaulwilliams @JT075 Definitely with you on this. Having a tournament on more than one subscription site is ridiculous and especially if there’s not the option to just purchase a single game option. I get most of the URC games I want to see on free to air, but will happily get a yearly subscription.

Lot of people complaining about European rugby moving to Premier Sports. You get all the European rugby, URC and Top 14 for £10.99 a month. That's two pints of fancy lager.

@loosest_the As a forward I have a player who somehow hasn't made his debut for Ireland but Gavin Coombes, plays 4 - 8 and has played all but 7 for Munster in the URC or Champions cup

If you had to pick a 7-1 bench with anyone that's ever played for your country, which back would make it? Chris Paterson Which versatile forwards would you have? Richie Vernon Which starting backs that can cover other positions? Huw Jones

As per @BrendanFanning Premier Sports WILL have the Champions Cup rights. - They’ll share with TNT - Many on all sides described it as “botched” or “Not plan A” to @CityAM - Some anger towards Prem Rugby in all of it - Value of rights diminish - some stakeholders unhappy Eek

@thepaulwilliams I’ve read Champions Cup is going to be shared with TNT. Less enthused now, we shouldn’t have to buy more than one subscription to watch a tournament.

@rugby_ap The real issue with opinions like this are that they are worthless if they go with the status quo, so they are incentivised to be controversial.

It’s just a bit tiresome how his opinion gets used as a kind of weird ‘gotcha’ in rugby discussions. Nige will come out on his tractor in a WR sponsored show and offer his opinion and Twitter will (if it suits their argument) clap their hands and say ‘see! Well that settles it!’

@threeredkings I volunteered to drop my eldest daughter off at her school disco. Knowing full well there’s a pub less than 100m from the gate where I could slip in for a quiet Thursday evening pint before heading back to collect her. I couldn’t get in the door. Too many irresponsible parents.
