We have known for decades that 1 in 5 adults experiences chronic pain, now we know that 1 in 5 children also experience chronic pain. Do you work with kids and think that you don’t work with chronic pain? Just maybe you are not asking the right questions….. food for thought.

If you have been told by healthcare professionals that your symptoms are "faked," "exaggerated," or simply "can't be that bad," you are not alone. In this #AskThePatient poll, 1,676 voted, 80% shared this traumatizing experience! Among the 435 comments: 31% of symptom invalidation (term coined by @acbontempo ) centered around pain; 64 were psychologized/sent to therapy; 23 mentioned gender stigma; 20 mentioned weight stigma; the word "accused" appeared 20 times. I probably have been complicit in this terrible culture of not believing patients. But all 1,676 voices have made it loud and clear: we👏must👏do👏better👏!
