As if it even needs saying: engaging with a party like the AfD is not merely talking to those with whom one disagrees. It is legitimising a political movement rooted in fascist ideology. There is no neutral ground here.

To put the scale of Burnham’s success in perspective, Labour in government has not successfully defended a seat at a by-election with a majority this small since 1978.

Our country shouldn't be stuck with the terrible deal the Conservatives and Nigel Farage lumped us with. It's time to for a bold new deal with Europe, including joining the single market and customs union.
