Today, we looked at diplomatic, economic, and security measures to restore safe passage, alongside working with the shipping industry. The EU’s Aspides naval mission has already assisted 1,700 ships in the Red Sea and must be scaled up. We cannot afford to lose another critical trade route. We support work by the UN on humanitarian corridors in the Strait to get food and fertilisers out. The EU has tools to track and facilitate transit that could help with that.

The Pasteur Institute has been an icon of Iran’s health care system, a symbol of modern Iran, established a century ago along with foundational health and education institutions. On the Guardian's live blog every reference to Iran launching a missile or drone and hitting something is an 'attack' but every reference to the US-Israeli doing the same (and causing far more death and destruction) is a 'strike.' These are deliberate language choices

We need a mass world coalition to stop Israel’s genocidal march throughout the Middle East and the lawless terrorism and apartheid within its own borders. Boycott, Divest, and Sanction is the recipe to stop further violence. It’s Dr Martin Luther King’s strategy of peaceful change. We must deploy it en mass and create a coalition of those who we may not agree with politically on other fronts but find common ground on this rolling justice.
